How well do autos grow outdoor?

Hey guys I just ordered some xxl white widow and moby dick and some Annapurna and Thai fantasy. All strains I've heard grow tall. I wanted to put them all outside, I'm in California and have good weather. Daylight is Only about 11 hours a day , does any one have any experience with growing autos outdoors? Does having less hours effect the yeild very much? And in less than 12 hours? Thanks

The most fun way I've had with autos out doors is to fill a kiddie pool with organic soil (800gallon) and broadcast the seeds to the pool
ideal for an enclosed back yard, be wary of any light pollination, as light going off/on at all hours can risk herming

to my blog on the hints

bottomline is more light bigger plants
bigger plant bigger buds
happy happy grower

usually throw some autos on balcony at summer times.i have 7-8 hours of sunlight.im mostly having not midget but small plants.they never become big as 16-18 hours indoor ones.also taking a bit long compare to indoor.but if you have a good backyard with more direct sunlight they will do better for sure.

Yea it's weird cause some people say if you want to grow big autos put them outdoors and a lot of people say that they don't grow as big outdoor as they do indoor. I guess it all depends on the circumstances of the grow.

yeah i have a couple seasons outdoor with autos, the biggest tips i would say is 1.genetics, youve got that all the xxl lines seem to get decent size 2. veg indoors under as much light as possible for the first 20-30 days for optimal results 3. grow in pots and bring them in at night to shelter from the elements/pests/diseases
yeah yield wont be as great as if youd grown during summer but youll still get some decent bud ( I know from experience)

thai fantasy auto my opinion not a true auto planted may 15 finished sept 15 which are the pics below. also grew a kannabia special that finished sept 15. grew delicious seed northernlights blue and dinafem blue cheese at same time those finished in 90-100 days this took 120 days didn't start flowering til days were noticeably getting shorter.
grew in 6 gallon pot of super soil. was not root bound ended up 5 1/2 feet tall yielding 100 grams.
smoke was good not fire but nice fruity taste and smell. relaxed up high.

from what i have read about the strain it is common to be at least 5 foot tall.
this was a kannabia special auto grown in a 3 gallon pot. vegged just as long as the thai fantasy.
but did not get as big because of pot size and def wouldn't have been as big because of the genetics.
nice spicy skunky taste with great rushing head hi. not a great yield but highest quality auto smoke i have had out of the 4 i have grown.
i would grow in at least a 10 gallon bucket a bit of a pain to water every day or 2 on those hot summer days.

I have my Thai fantasy germinating right now , should i put them in pots or just throw them in the ground you think?

rain a lot where you are if so i would go bucket. if its in a bucket can always move it if you think location has been compromised.
otherwise i say dig a whole chuck in a good 10-15 gallon of supersoil and that should make for decent sized plants.
any reason you are not doing a spring harvest of photoperiod plants or clones.
