How to wire a cpu fan?

I was just wondering what you guys wired up your computer fans to.. to make it work. thanks for the help

A video camera charger. Basically, just look on the plug of any Mobile phone charger, video charger, ect. and you will find the voltage; you want somewhere between 8v to 20v, that's just a ruff approximation, different PC fans have different voltage but there is a lot of lee way. My PC fan is supposed to be 12v, but I have it on a 8.5v adapter. Just cut of the end to expose the copper wire, and do the same to your PC fan, then twist em together its that easy.

dude. i had the same problem. i am currently using an old phone charger but weirdly enough i found a 9v battery worked better.

if you guys can get your hands on a model train controller for cheap do that i had an old one and as of right now im running 4 cpu fans off of it in series and they run about 2-3 times faster than the one i have on a cell phone charger, it has a "throttle" so you can change how much power is going into them, which is how fast they are spining. it i sweet since other wise you would need a seperate circuit to plug in all the phone chargers

I just used an old cellphone charger. Its set up to my light timer, and its working amazingly.

i keep my fans running 24 hours a day and my lights are on 20/4 scedule

a guy made a tutorials for this... and a pretty good one

you will need a 12v adapter and then hook the wires to the red and black wires, plug into plug socket and they should run full blast...

im stumpeddd, i have a fan, and its wired to my charger, blcak to black, red to red, and it goes good for about a minute, then just stops?

Sounds like you're burning them up. Check the voltage on the DC converter. If it's higher than the voltage on the fan.............well, there's your problem. I use 6 to 8v chargers on the 12 volt fans. Run slower but forever.

That certainly won't burn it up. What volt are the fans?
Try a higher voltage but less than the fans. Do the fans stop working permanently?

yeah like it runs perfect for aabout a minute.. then just stops
