My patch is very hard to get to and I would prefer not to go there everyday but maybe once a week is there anyway i can keep my plants watered without having to go the spot more than once a week

There in-lies the "Big Problem". Plants need water, and more often than not it is in short supply. You can purchase water crystals suppose to help water retention ( I have never used these so I don't know if they actually work), or they are making water retaining soils, both scotts, and miracle grow. If you grow in bags or pots keep them low, make a small hole and place them in that helps to keep things cool. Once your plants get big enough they should need to be watered only once a week. I personally bought a high end large back pack, not one for camping, more like a books back pack, but large and high quality. I can carry four gallons in it plus some supplies. Just remember to make your watering count, and watch the weather. Good Luck.:peace:

i'm not talking about on the bank of a river alongside footpaths.. if you chose a good location, you can then run feeder irrigation lines from the water source to your plants etc, using gravity, you're sorted

im not sure but my friend said something today about using a shoe lace putting it in my pot and another bucket of water would this work?

There used to be pots equipped with a wick and reservoir, but I never saw them advertised or recommended in the gardening books/magazines. I'm betting their failure rate is very high, unattended.

The only real solution is build a small reservoir someplace higher than your garden and run lines to your plants.

They make battery operated timers for 3/4 inch lines.

How far away is the best water source.

Only you can see what is possible, BUT if your spot is lower than the water source, read up on siphons. A siphon with the battery powered valve might be the ticket.

You'll need to hide the pipe or hose, I assume.

go to a hunting store and find a big camouflage bucket (get as many as you need) if you canʻt find a big bucket preferably with a lid on it then get another big bucket and get some camouflage duct tape. they do make it my uncle hunts and i saw him taping a white bucket up before. Fill your bucket(s) up with water and place them above your plantos. Drill or cut a small hole for a hose line in the lid.

So now you have your camouflaged bucket (you could even ghillie it up with sticks and leaves) on a hill above your plants with a 3/4" silicone hose coming out of your lid. Try find a plug for the far end of he hose and puncture little holes in the hose big enough to let water out drop by drop. Now place the hose at the base of your plant and now you can check the bucket every so often.

You could even put small amounts of fertilizer in it, iʻve never done that though

ps: Or you could ignore all this and look up drip irrigation. or different types of irrigation techniques.

yea...one of those water globe's they sale on TV. they also sale them in CVS & WAL MART. You feel it up with water then stick it in the ground, it gives water very slow. Get about 5 of them..

i was thinkin just that but i read it keeps the ground saturated "thats bad im almost sure" and if my girls were wet all the time they wouldnt be exicited when big dady came around ;)
