How to Use The Trim

I just cut down all the plants in my grow tent. I cut the branches off and hung them on a cotton line. Sure enough by this afternoon the spider mites had migrated to the the top and were traversing the line. I saved all the leaves and I'm still in the process of cutting leaves off. I froze some leaves last night in a large ziplock. Is it okay to freeze them? Should I dry the leaves first (before freezing or the ones I'm still cutting)? I guess the next step is to buy the hash bags and ice and strain the resin through them. Am I doing this right?

Sorry for being so lazy (regarding the trim question) but this is a gorilla grow in a condo and the branches are stinking something fierce. Thank goodness for ONA and the little air filter Hamilton Beach TrueAir Room Odor Eliminator (04532GM) which was a bitch to find. Blaze on.

Yeah man you're gonna want to dry that trim first.
You aren't talking about fan leaves right?

I lulzed when I had mites and they went from buds to the top of the line too it was awesome.

Is is okay to freeze leaves until I can get get done with the trimming and drying? Some of the leaves coming out of the buds were large but there weren't many of them. I tossed the yellow leaves and leaves that didn't look healthy. I don't have the bags yet. Do you recommend three sizes?

Can't believe how many leaves there are though. The sugar leaves clog up my Fiscar sissors really fast. Its a one man operation. To top it off I left about one quarter of all the plants in the grow tent.

I don't see the spider mites on them but the fungas gnats were everywhere. I just finished treating them with Azamax (just to the soil).

I was thinking now that there is more light and the dirt is still good I would let them keep growing and see what happens.

generally speaking if the leaves you froze were fan leaves(no trichs on them) then they're pretty worthless.

You want to dry then trim.
This is crucial for curing and the trim quality imho.

I have wet trimmed b4 and the trim just molded unless I laid it out on a drying rack.
How much you got hanging?
When its dry you can throw it in a tote, trim it at your leisure.....throw a tortilla in there if it gets too dry LOL!

Bubble bag sizes?
I got a three pack 220 is the work bag I think the small one is 90 (microns).
Dry ice is easier imho.
Same bags just shake em out instead of washing, draining, scraping and drying....way quick too and no need for a washer/agitator.

All that hash stuff should be done with DRY trim though....some ppl freeze it because it makes the trichs break off easier but dude dry ice does it in a few minutes.

Here's what I like to do.
Chop.
Remove all fans at the base.
Hang with full sugar leaf, so that they might form a little cocoon.
Make sure they dry, can take a week or more.
Pull down and put into a tote once dry.
Trim, save dry trim for later.
While trimming pull nodes apart, inspect stalk for mold....especially the big tops.
Enjoy.

Okay, I tried to trim them before they were dry. I was thinking that maybe I was over-trimming by cutting wet sugar leaves. I trimmed again today and it looks like the sugar leaves want to dry around the bud. Tonight is 24 hours, so tomorrow I'll clean up the branches still hanging and leave the sugar leaves on and let them dry for about five or six days. There are a lot of branches hanging and a couple more in the tent that should be cut. I'll order some bags and see if I can find some dry ice. Maybe I can get that trim thawed out and dried while the branches are hanging. Thanks.

Fresh frozen makes the BEST ice wax. Keeps the terpine flavors. You should only cut down what you can trim right then and there. Only save the sugar leaves and freeze immediatly after trimmed. When you do buy bags follow Matt Rize steps on Youtube. Dont let them ever get dry before you trim makes it 10x harder and you loose all those tasty oils that go away with dry trim. You never see fresh frozen ice wax around because growers horde it and keep it for themself !

I've frozen trim overnight with no adverse effect. The essential oils in the triches don't freeze. When I took them out of the freezer they still had to dry though. I made some nice kief hash. Why don't you freeze twostrokenut?

Bud Leaf trim
Screen the trim get the Hash from it. Regular Hash, not Bubble Hash.
take that material and make hash oil out of it.

Good Luck on Your Grow

I just don't wet trim.
I let the buds "cure" in the sugar leaf while drying and until it gets trimmed.
Tried dealing with wet trim from a trim pro once and it was all bad lol.
Totally learning shit here about the freezer though.
My dry trim gets processed within a couple weeks, usually gets blasted or the dry ice treatment.
If Ihave too much (rarely anymore) it gets vac sealed.

I usually trim, let the trim sit out with popcorn for a couple days then goes into ziplock and into freezer. From there to bubble bags with ice. Def want to try dry ice next time. I use the smaller 1 gallon bags and have the 220, 90, 78, 24....something like that. Another thing I do is after the bags and making hash I save water/ice/mashed plant material and it goes into crock pot over night to make butter. So I am using all the the plant and getting most out of it.
