Hello fellow RIU members, I normaly take small GDP clones from my mother plant but right now my mother plant is around 3 feet tall and I i need to take a big ass clone like a 1 an a half tall clone kinda bushy. So what would be the process in making it successfull. I have the little humidity plastic box thingy (forgot what is call lol) where i normally put my 5 in clones. But this one i don't want to f@ck it up because is going into my next cycle which is 2 months from now and I need to fim, top get it bushy as hell for scrog.

So please i need some advice =)

Thanks!

Check out a technique called air layering on Google. Essentially what you do is leave the "clone" on the plant and use a bag full of some medium (peat, coir, etc.) around the branch to stimulate rooting. The branch will continue to take nourishment from the plant while developing the roots that will later sustain it as a plant.

Here's a quick video that explains the process.

+ rep for air layering (although admittedly I've only seen it on houseplants)
....anyway, I'm doing this now: using a large main stem for a clone (for the 1st time)....what I'm seeing is some of the fatter stems resist rooting a lil, esp since fatter stems=bigger fan leaves )...hell, I had to strip her down quite a bit!_... I'm having a lil better results just sticking them in Hydroton with water recirculating over it in my RDWC (with the nutes dialed to near zero) ...I'm guessing the high O2 water is helping slow down the yellowing/dead foliage a lil ....we'll see...and good luck

what is the reason for wanting to take a foot and a half clone?, surely taking 10 proper sized cuttings would be a lot more effective in the long run

I took an outdoor plant that had been stepped on by 1 of my neighbors horses that broke out of pasture, it was split into 3 salvageable branches. I trimmed the base of all 3 of them and put them in a glass of water with a few drops of Clonex cloning solution, not the gel, and changed it every other day to fresh water . All 3 grew roots in 10-14 days for me.

its just the same sometimes takes a lil longer to root if enviro aint right, but it cuts down on veg time, its easeier to root a small bush and bang it straight to flower then grow a 4inch clone into a bush
