Hey good folks, im just about to start my first coco slab grow. Im going to be watering 3-5 times a day so i get hydro roots. But to get hydro roots do i have to start them in hydro from cuttings or can i clone in jiffy pucks and then put them in the slabs and get the hydro effect when i start watering 3-5 times a day..? Some guidens would be apreasiated

Dont water that much! Water once or twice! This allows the roots to search. Once you see good new growth up your feeding to 3
and after you flip to flower up it to 5 feeds! You will get the full bang out of your coco this way.

Hey thanks for the input hellraizer, I just woundering if i should start the clones in a aerophonic system for the best start or just do as i usualy do when im going from jiffy pucks to pot. Just thinking i would save some veg time if i have hydro roots from the start and not normal roots that have to adjust itself to hydro style. And when i flip to 12/12 at 10" with small root balls and they dont get hydro roots at all im not in for a big harvest, thats my consern..

I use a aero cloner, faster cloning and i feel there stronger al around
Yeah thats what i was thinking of buying tomorrow but do you use slabs or pots? If you do use slabs how do you go from the aerocloner to the slabs? I was thinking of just dig them down and maybe support them with a 4" rockwool cube around the stem..

I was thinking of that but trying to avoid all that coco handling with bags and pots, so from aerocloner to slabs seems like less work:-)

Less work but with smart pots your medium will dry out faster and allow you to water more and thats when coco
shines. Plus if you need to move them around you can, slabs you cant

bought the X Stream Propagator 105 Site and the clones are in. Now im sure to start out with aero roots so hope they will survive.. (http://www.britcropshydroponics.co.uk/Grow-Systems/Aeroponics/X-Stream/X-Stream-Propagator-105-Site.html) And i went for slabs, yes you cant move them around but im looking forvard to not repot and not to wash 80 1 1/2 gallon pots, and since the slabs only contain 3 gallen im going to put 4 per slab so they dry out fast and i can water hydro style. Thanks for the input hellraizer

Sounds good man! One thing to know when using the aero cloner, you will get long ass roots! While in the cloner i root prune.
how do i do this well its simple, just trim the roots so there not long i like 6in long roots! Your plants roots will exsplode into
a gaint root ball. Make the transplant easyer not having to weave a foot long roots into your pots.

Sorry to jack your thread OP
.....hey hellraiser30, do you have a thread somewhere that describes your growing better? I am loving the idea of root-pruning in the areo cloner! Shit, I end up with roots 2' at times(I run in a GH AeroFlo) and I'd really like to see how much you can cut off, may start experimenting....hmmmmm......and the real thing catching here for me is I am really thinking to try coco in smart pots with my next run I 'll start them in......knowing nothing really other than what I know from the soil years and hydro....I know I need to start reading on the prepping the coco for pH probably similar to rw? And then the feed schedulings etc........but I am looking to not have to cool res's again all summer on the areoflo.
Thanks for any leads!

If you use canna coco with canna nutes there zero prep! I dont have a thread to target the root trimming
but i can say just start with cuting half off and see how it goes. Never had a issue so far

....sounds great!!, I thank you Sir! I will do a test and see what I can get away with:mrgreen:
Yeah, I already use canna everything and the rhizotonic sh*t is like magic for the roots growth! -----I just prefer another route than using their boost.....(another note on canna: I attribute my having gotten away with running my res temp so high all this time due to it's awesome composting.....+ res changes of course, lol.)

Thanks again hellraiser!!
