How To: Simple Free Online Secuity

The simple way to piece of mind for all of us that have the paranoia running deep in the blood stream.

Introducing Tor (anonymity network)
This method is a favorite amongst the growing community recently for its simplicity to set up and the FREE part.

How it works!
Tor protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, and it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location. Tor works with many of your existing applications, including web browsers, instant messaging clients, remote login, and other applications based on the Internet's TCP protocol.
For More infomation please visit TOR's homepage

Back to the How To:

Step 1: Install Fire Fox
Goto Tools > Options > Privacy: Disable cookies and saved passwords. Set it to delete everything upon exiting fire fox. In settings set it to erase all possible options. Finally use the Clear Now button just to be sure that anything brought over to firfox is deleted.

Step 2: Goto What is my IP address? Free IP address Tracer, IP Locator, IP Lookup. Hide my IP address, check IP address! check your IP address and write it down. Using this site you can type in anyones IP address and find out where their ISP is located. *creepy*

Step 3: Install Fire Fox Addon: TOR Button
(restart firefox and make sure addon installed)

Step 4: Install Tor, Privoxy & Vidalia Bundle

Step 5: Check out the pretty green onion in your task bar. Right click and select new identity anytime you want a new IP address and BINGO!

Step 6: Goto What is my IP address? Free IP address Tracer, IP Locator, IP Lookup. Hide my IP address, check IP address! check your IP address again. You should be located in some random place far far away. If it isnt far enough for you then get a new identity until your happy.

This will very much slow you down. I do not recomend this without DSL or Cable.

TOR is not a bullet proof vest, you must be careful online as always.
It is a lot better than running around naked showing your IPEEPEE to everyone.

Enjoy your Onion.

For anyone who would rather pay for better speed and wants a good recommendation I like http://perfect-privacy.com/.
After having used Findnot for 2 years and researching the many many different services PP has good speeds at a reasonable price. They are located over seas and have a good track record for not storing your information for any period of time. They also let you pay with E-Gold making it a %100 anonymous transaction.

Happy Surfing.:peace:

i just hate when i goto google and it pulls up google from regular google...or pages from malaysia

or when i goto login to myspace..... the whole page is in spanish tombout welcome to puerto rico or some shit....lol

Yeah it's pretty random where you will end up but I only use it to post. All of my searching or surfing is done with it disabled. I can't stand the slow speed.

WillieNelson- Anonymizer.com is a free "trial" and on top of that the service has been known to have its flaws and leaks. Research a bit and you'll see what I mean for example this news article SecuriTeam™ - Anonymizer.com Might Reveal Your IP (Double Proxy)

Pseudonym- Tor IS free and I'm my opinion better because it is made up of a mass collection of volunteers instead of using ONE free service that may have only a handful of IP addresses.

Don't everyone start putting on your tin foil hats now. The whole reason for this is to give everyone an easy way of changing your IP address so that some of us who are worried about leaving behind too many tracks can feel better.

TOR is in no way the best service, but for being free I haven't found a better way. And trust me I have spent a long time looking. Once you install Tor you have a nifty little button on the bottom of your browser. When you get tired of it slowing you down just turn it off and your back to normal.

I can't say I have ever heard of anyone hauled of too jail for posting on a site. But we can't ever be sure if the bacon hasn't been lead to a location because of an IP address and then got a warrant for seeing, smelling, hearing something.

Its better to be safe then sorry.

If anyone has anything more to say on the subject I would hope that it comes with a bit more explanation or substance. Don't just post to be contradictory, that doesn't help anyone.

And if anyone if planning on spending some $$$ for a proxy... do your homework and find out whats being said and if there are any worth while reading about the site online.

Be Safe.

This is what I have been doing myself..

Maybe not QUITE as simple, but in the long run I think its a very good and extremely reliable solution...
PLUS this works for IE, opera,Mozilla,Netscape, and FF!!

I got the solution for anyone worried about their web surfing !
First you will need a torrent client, I use Utorrent, get it here Free Download uTorrent 1.6.1 Build 490 - efficient and feature rich BitTorrent
YOU will want version 1.6.1..
There are UPDATED ones, but STAY away from them! They have been banned from alot of servers

IF you are using a router you might need to forward a port for best download speed results..
Go here, PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall
its very easy, and only takes a few mins..
You need to find your router on the list, then once you select it, you will be walked through how to configure your router to forward a port for utorrent!!!

IF you plan to download ANYTHING else.. movie, games, music apps, etc..
It would be a very good idea to get PEERGUARDIAN which can be found here Phoenix Labs » PeerGuardian 2

Keep the lists updated as often as possible

Here is what you want!
proxyway || isoHunt - World's largest BitTorrent and P2P search engine
Get the proxyway extra..
READ the read me inside the folder once its done

If you have any Q's or need help getting it configured go here Proxy setting. Detecting proxy setting. Internet proxy setting. Proxy server setting. Internet explorer proxy setting Firefox Mozilla Opera Netscape. Change proxy setting. Dtect proxy setting. Setting up proxy

Then go here Proxy sites. Proxy site. Free proxy sites list. Free proxy site. Free proxy websites lists. List of proxy websites. Proxy web site. Proxies sites list. Proxies web sites. Free proxy list. Free proxy servers. HTTP HTTPS proxy lists. SOCKS5 proxy list
There you can add proxy servers to your proxyway, and after you add about 5 - 20 or so serverlist urls you will want to update your list..
Once done you can choose the server of your choice..

You can test it once you get it configured here CMyIP.com or here ww.danasoft.com
Here is an example.

You will know its working if you IP, ISP and country have been changed..

You can also choose to block your user agent..
Which is your Browser config, operating system and your Referrer field.. You can use proxyway with Firefox, or IE..
All done with a few clicks within the proxyway connections menu!

Happy browsing

PS
Here I go into more detail about keeping PeerGuardian block lists upto date
