How to sharpen Scissors

I have a problem with 5 pairs of dull scissors. Barely cut through leaves, lol. I believe it is because I scrape them for scissor hash.

Anyway I didn't see a whole lot of info on it so I thought I'd share this:

All them methods look like they will dull your scissors.. lol i dunno.
Buy some new ones, like 5 bucks.

What kinda cheap ass scissors do.you buy that cost $5?
A good pair.of.fiskars are $20 plus dollars.. I always had a mechanic at work sharpen mine on a sander and cleaned up and a sharpening stone.. nothing better than a nice sharp pair of scissors IMO..

I keep this sitting on the table next to my cup of scissors and when I change scissors, I give a few swipes thru this and my scissors are kept sharp.

I'll have to try that out. I just went to homedepot though and bought 120 + 220 sand paper. That seems like the more likely to work out those that were shown in the link. We shall see, haha.

Yeah, not so sure about the glass technique and tin foil? Who knows. It's on the internet so is must be true.

We will know after the game tonight. As I won't be to my scissors until later tonight.

Does anyone want to volunteer and try the other methods?

i would but i lost my scissors in my move a few months ago and went out and got some brand new, have not been used once (yet) trimming scissors.

Happy to say the sand paper worked!

I cut the 120 in half then in half then in half, etc. Then cut 5 little sections. Did the same thing with the 220 and they are razor sharp again tested them on a couple branches. Not surn how long they will stay sharp but it is way better already.

Now I just need to find the other 4 pairs of scissors, lol. I hate moving.

I just tried the glass, then the pin, then the tin foil....IMHO the pin worked the best of those tried

BTW: this is not a professional sharpening method but did make a difference... a bit sharper edge on them now

ime, a belt sander works the best, but it's also the easiest method to really fuck up a good pair of scissors if you don't know what you're doing for sure, followed by cleaning up on a sharpening stone obviously.

I just received my Fiskars literally 10 minutes ago in the mail

I paid $12 plus $4 shipping.

Can't WAIT to get home tonight to do my first harvest with them. They feel so damned comfortable. No more blisters for spek!!

just get a regular pair of the orange fiskars spek?? those are great, but i picked up a pair of fiskars that have springs in them for trimming since the trics seem to get a regular pair of fiskars super sticker super quick, and the springed set seems to help out a bit with that..

these are the ones i use for trimming, great for getting in between the buds for those tight sugar leaves..

The ones I got look almost identical to yours, with the spring. only difference is mine are orange.

Smaller than I anticipated, which I am really going to like.

ps. Fiskars Model 9921. I'd snap a pic if I had a camera on me, but I don't.

My grandma sewed stuffs like professionally lol. I don't know what that's called..custom curtains etc
She used to take her really expensive scissors to this knife shop or something..it was called bear claw I think
Anyway they would do it for free..did great work obviously

when my regular mechanic was out of work for like a year, i took them back to the shop and asked the fill in mechanic to sharpen them for me, hoping he was going to do them the way my regular guy did them, but of course he was a crap mechanic, so i really shouldn't have expected him to do a good job with them..
he simply used the knife / scissor sharpner we had, and it does sharpen them up a lil bit, but it's far from a good job ime.. dull down super quick that way as well ime..

had to use scissors every day at work, cutting p.e.t. and paper all day long, so a nice sharp pair of scissors were vital for me..
