How to setup grow room?

I am not really sure where this thread should go, so if it needs to go somewhere else please let me know.

Hey, last summer I fell over a railing down 25 feet, fractured my skull in 2 places, and fractured 2 of my vertebrae, a neurosurgeon stabilized them with 2 titanium rods. I have not been able to walk ever since, I am going through rehab, and the nerve regeneration pain is by far the worst pain I have ever experienced.

I just graduated from university in May, I smoked a lot throughout college, even was a big reader of these forums as I was planning to start my own grow op when I moved. The medicine (gabapentin) that people with spinal-cord injuries (SCI) take for pain (it inhibits nerve regeneration) does not work for me, I learned that weed (and tramadol) are the only things that help me. I use a vape, and my tolerance is extremely high so I would like to grow my own instead of spending the absurd amount of money I do on weed. A good friend of mine grows medical marijuana for patients in Michigan, but it still costs me around $300 an ounce.

I receive a little over a grand a month for disability, so cost of grow room supplies and seeds is not a concern, I just want to grow stuff that will help alleviate my pain, help me sleep and increase my appetite. I just started reading up on growing yesterday, so please forgive me if I get stuff wrong.

Here is the strain I want to start with, as it is auto-flowering, feminized, grows fast, has a high yield and has all of the medical properties I am looking for. I need help designing my grow room, keep in mind that I would like to grow the best way, so I am thinking hydroponics is good for me.

Any help is much appreciated.

hi smig sorry to hear bout ya accident lifes a bitch but hey we move on. first of all excuse the spelling am shit lol what size room ,tent cubboard you got? that hydro system would take two mins to put together your self at a fraction of the price ! secondly if i was a noob again well in ways we all are as am always learning,i would start with a soil grow or two get some experiance as soil is more forgiving than hydro as most will say. third i wouldernt bother with the auto flowers am not saying they are crap but for ya time if you could get hold of some decent clones give em a week two veg then flower em youd still get trebble what a auto would give infact no veg just flower would too. one thing else read read n dead some more its best ways. eney how if you give size of space peeps will help more ok take it easy n good luck mate.

The amount you want to produce also will play a factor in what the best style will be for you. Also what is your mobility? Do you need to be able to manage the garden completely yourself or will you have help? I don't have any personal experiance with Auto Flower strains. What size do the plants get before then flower? How simple and automated would you like the system? For example I use a hybrid recirculating drip system with soil and and it has very little maintenance with top quality results.

With a little more info on your part I could make some recommendations on what I think will work best.

gabapentin didnt work for you? thats sucks for real man. sounds as if you may have more muscle pain than anything(if weed and tramidol is all you need stay off the Gab. potent shit right there)

if i where you as i dont know you situation, it may be best to find someone local to you who grows to help you get started. in your situation i recommend larger plants and trying to scrog at waist height or lst.(Low tsress training)

i would do super soil with trays under the pots this way you could go a week or 2 without bothering them.

and i would set up a watering sytem with a pump so you can just use a wand in the grow room. youll need a nice compression sprayer with a wand for neem oil and such too. sorry to hear about the back pain man.

thanks, right now we live in a pretty small apartment, so I was thinking a small grow will be good, a grow tent like this (I only need to be able to produce as much for me).

I was looking at strains last night, and I settled on this one as it has a lot of the properties that I want. I will have help with this grow, and I don't know if I should do a hydro or soil grow, I would like to do whichever grow is easier and produces the most.

thanks, ill go with soil for this grow. i started my lawsuit about a month ago, and if I win (which I wouldn't see why I wouldn't giving the circumstances) I am going to build a house for me, in which I am going to build an entire basement for my grow room (I'll probably move to Cali and grow medical weed).

what do you guys think about this, it has most of the stuff ill need to start my grow

Gabapentin (neurotin) doesn't work for me either and had some bad side effects. Best of luck. You may want a small depth/long grow enclsure so its easier for you to access.

yeah neurontin didnt work for me either, my neurologist said it inhibits nerve regeneration and once he told me that I stopped taking it, although when I was on it it didnt do anything for pain and just made me have to go to the bathroom a lot.

it may sound weird, but my dad is going to help me with this grow so I don't need to worry about access to the plant. can someone give me some feedback on these two setups, I want an easy grow so an all in one kit will be super easy

i think you'd be better off getting quality components than looking for cheap all in one deals. you really aren't going to save that much and there is a reason that equipment is so cheap.

i'd get growlab or secret jardin 3x3 tent. a lumatek 600/400w dimmable ballast. stay away from LED lights. a hortilux or digilux 400w MH and HPS bulb. a sun system yield master or cool sun 6" hood. a CAN 6" inline fan and the CAN33 carbon filter. grow 4 plants in a soiless mix like sunshine #4 advanced mix. a simple 2 part soil nutrient like House and Garden Soil 2 Part. i think a tent like that would be perfect for 4 plants. veg them till they are 12" tall and then flower them. you can even put them on a bench to make access to hem easier. they will get about 3' tall by the end of flower and you should be able to pull 2oz off each plant. since you are only growing for yourself you can just veg in the same tent.

good luck man.

ok thanks ScoobyDoobyDoo, where do you recommend I buy some of this stuff from?
i would work on a list and then shop it around. the best way to get a bargain is to shop the quote around and then go back to everyone and say this is the price you gotta beat. they have so much wiggle room on those products you'd be surprised. i bet, at minimum, you can get 15% off the total order. maybe more. try htg supply, bg hydro, greners, and maybe horticulture source. those are some of the bigger ones and you'll be able to get a great deal by shopping the best quote around between them.

also, don't let them try and change any of the final important materials. they will sometimes try and change something for a cheap version of it. if it's a timer or thermometer that's fine but with the ballasts, bulbs, soil, nutes, etc... don't budge on quality. watch the shipping costs too. sometimes they'll give you a great deal but jack up the shipping costs.

let me know if you need any help.

BUD PORN!! :bigjoint: Enjoy...just harvested 4 of these girls about 2 weeks ago. Sour Diesel. pulled 630g off a 600w light. Day 55 in this pic and they were harvested on Day 62 i believe.

* Tent - GrowLab or Secret Jardin
* Ballast - Lumatek, Quantum, or Phantom
* Bulbs - Hortilux for sure. Digilux or Sunmaster to save some money
* Reflector - Any Sun System reflector. DO NOT get an oversized, XXXl, or Blockbuster one; too big. The Cool Sun, Yield Master, etc. 6"
* Soil - Sunshine #4 Advanced Mix
* Pots - Plastic ones for seedlings and veg. Smart Pots for your final flowering pot.
* Nutes - House and Garden Soil 2 Part (you will only need a liter of both)
* Fan - Can 6" Regular Fan
* Filter - Can33 Filter w/ prefilter

that's all i can think of right now. are you going to grow from seed every time or are you going to keep a mother plant?

ok thanks, this will be my first grow, so from seed the first time and then after that id like to do whatever is the easiest.

I can easily figure out the hierarchy in the other categories, but I feel like grow lights / bulbs are integral to the overall grow, so while I do appreciate the Hortilux bulb reference, which type of Hortilux bubl do I want?
