How to set up electricals?

Right so I will be using:

250watt hps
Carbon filter
2 fans
and some small cfls.

I have been recommended this extension which has a built in contactor http://www.growell.co.uk/eco-technics-light-switching-timer-contactors.html
but I need to use another extension (heavy duty) to plug this extension in to the mains as it is too short. It also has a plug for a timer which I'm guessing needs to be plugged into a timer

so it will be like this.. Adaptor above plugged in to mains, timer plug.. plugged into the timer and the timer plugged in to the OTHER extension lead.. will this work?

It should work but its not ideal.

Ideally the contactor should be into the mains sockets. Then from a seperate mains socket you should run the extension for your fans etc.

However as long as the ext you use has a surge protector on it you should be fine.

Whats the most ideal way to do it?
I will plug the 250 watt hps and a few small cfls
separately from the fans
