How did you measure the pH? Verm and perlite are supposed to be neutral, so with only a 1/3 of your medium your pH sounds surprisingly high. What soil is it?

Apart from changing your soil, the easy way is just to run a lot of slightly acidic water through to try and flush out some lime, or other carbonates in the soil which might get be raising the pH.

Best way is to use a lot of pH 7 water to flush the pots then measure the last bit of runoff for a pH comparison. Don't use soil testers, as they aren't reliable.

Most natural way would to add a little lemon juice until you reach the ph you desire...

thanks for all the help guys, think im going to flush them with some slightly acidic distilled water then recheck the ph and hopefully will get it down, dont want to use vinegar or lemon juice as they are only 1 week old and dont want to risk harming them.

TOPP DRESS IT IN BABY STEPS. NO WAY TO ESTIMATE HOW MUCH TO ADD EACH TIME, VARIES WITH POT SIZE aREYOU (GD CAP LOCK!!) Are you sure theiol pH is that high/ or are you mesuring run-off/

Next time , buy the LIME like Espoma s Garden Lime to buffer pH so you can pre mix with soil before you plant and you dont have to worry about pH anymore and soil tend to re correct in their medium.

If you fix, it can get worse. IMHO leave medium alone, they will be fine in a few weeks.

7.5-8 pH is fine for my plants, no problem.

Happy growing and peace.

so just bought some "chempak sulphar plant fert. trace elements" you recommend just sprinkling it on top before watering or try dissolve it in water then water the plants? carried out 3 different tests it def to alkaline, how would the run off test be different to soil test? thanks[h=1][/h]
