How to keep the size small (plant size) if limited space is only available?

I would suggest using an indica strain since they grow shorter and bushier then saliva strains. What's the size of the size of the container? As a general rule you need about .5 to 1.5 sq feet to grow one plant in a sea of green or scrog set up. Which I think would be the best for a closet grow

Found this on grasscity.. good reference, going to quote:
Introduction
Alright, well first I'm not taking credit for LST or anything this is just my way for doing another version of LST. For those who don't know LST stand for Low Stress Training, the purpose of this method is to promote lower growth, maximize branching and evenly distribute light to create mutliple large cola's rather than just a single cola. It is also very helpful for those growing in confinde spaces or just like a nice bushy plant.

Theory
The Idea behind this method of growing is to use string or twine to spread the banches out allowing light to reach the inner and lower brances of the plant, in my method I do this as a gradual process to eliminate the chances of breaking a stem or anything of that nature. There are many other ways to achive the same effect but most cause the plant a great deal of stress where as with my method the plant usually recovers in 12-24 hours rather than days.

How-To Procedure and Example
Depending on you comfort level with the plants you can begin when your plant is at it's 4th node otherwise I recomend around the 6th node, at this point your plant is around 5"-8" inches tall with side and lower bances developing. At this time It is time to begin the first step:

Step 1: The first stage is to create a 90 degree bend in the main stalk, this allows even flow
of water, sugar and energy to multiple branches.

Step 2: The second stage is to keep new gowth parellel to the soil whenever possible to
promote axial growth and keep branch growth rates even.

Step 3: The third stage deals with the "hooking effect" which allows for easier tying and
better flow (assisted by gravity) to each branch.

Step 4: The forth stage is about weaving the branches and how u can continue using steps
2 and 3 to create a "bush" until you are ready to flower.

***Please see coresponding picture for more detail about how to do each stage as well as examples and tips. Hope you find this helpful and if you have any questions just ask!***

Just look around on forums. LST is Lite Stress Technique. Just gotta train your plants you can bend them downward so they don't grow straight up right away or you can do a technique where you bend the top of the plant and brake it sort if speak so that the other branches grow up and pass it. Soma growing tip <--- YouTube it or look up more ways on the forums. Good luck mate

LST training is eazy drill about 8 holes on the side of your grow pot very close to the survice area they attach string or wire to slowing bend over the main stock " warning " do no over bend or they main stock will snap. Say your drill 8 holes in a 2 gallon pot your plant should be able to grow in a circle all the way around the pot once or twice before your ready to flower. I have personal done this and its wicked cool. , But i like my cannabis plants and im a vertical guy im not side ways ! Ok im a little sideways ! lol

Cotton Mouth whats up again bud! You dont need holes or anything dont complicate it, if you have the tools go for it. It's easier just duct taping it down though. Here's what i do. To keep her small i keep her really close to lights, and provide barely any dark time cause they stretch when its dark looking for light so i go at around 20/4 lighting. and then i take the strings from 4 teabags tie them in pairs of to use one counter tie to hold the plant in place then the second to bend the stem down. From this you get almost double yields and your plant stays small. go here https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/359154-first-growjournal-jock-horror-autoflower-16.html#post4607802 last post to see it. shes real bushy and its a sativa which are usually really tall and stretchy
