How to hang dry? Here's what I have-

I know there's a lot of debate over quick drying or hang drying slowy, and I imagine that the results of each method would be fantastic or folks would'nt be so passionate about their own method. I am not in a HURRY to dry my harvest when i chop in the next week, but I don't want to hang them for a month. I've taken an 18 gallon rubbermaid, mounted a 78 cfm PC fan under the lid, cut a hole for it, and I will run some string across the mouth and hang the buds there. Probably drill some hols at the bottom to allow air intake. Would this do well to keep humidity low and keep airflow constant, but not power dry the buds? I'd rather it dry out on the slower side, but I have no experience with this yet so I dont know what to expect

Don't do it!

I did the exact same thing and was sorry. Not exactly I guess, since I installed cookie cooling trays in my rubbermaid and broke the buds up and laid them on the trays. They dried in 48 hours, but the quality was a lot worse than with the 2 plants I simply cut and hung whole in the same room. The 2 I hung whole took almost a week to get to the same dryness, but they were much more potent.

If you do try this, hang one whole as a comparison, but I'm telling ya, you'll be sorry!

I wasn't going to break them up, aside from cutting the branches off individually. seems most people do it that way to make it more managable. So your problem was from you pulling each bud off and drying them on a cookie sheet? you hung a whole plant in the same room and it turned out good? Okay then, you had a rubbermaid container with a fan exhausting air out like I described? That's my question, what do folks think of THAT design?

My Rubbermaid has the fan installed in th bottom... I cut a hole to fit the fan and is's set to exhaust. The cookie sheets are wire mesh cooling trays. I cut each plant and broke each bud up into the little buds that make up the whole. It held a little over 2 pounds. I cut a hole in the lid about eight inches square so the air flow would be down into the container.
From your initial description, you are going to do the same thing only you're inputting air from the top, and mine was from the bottom.

It'll dry the buds nice and fast, and the buds will still have some springyness to them... but they won't be anywhere near as strong a Buzz as plants hung whole upside down.

Look at this face..... Would I lie to you? :-P

Seriously, I already tried this with NL White Widow plants, clones that I've been growing a long time. There was a noticable difference in the strength.

If you do try this, please post or PM me how it worked.... Hell, maybe I screwed up.
