How to grow a 3/4 foot tall outdoor plant?

I have a greenhouse that is 4x4x4. I have Lilac, Lavender, and a bunch of other shrubs on the outside of the greenhouse but the window looking in can be seen from the neighbors yard but only can see in a small section where the doorway is directly across from it.
So realistically the space I want to utilize is 2x4x4; give or take.
Is this doable? It’s May, outdoor temps here are in the 70s and 80s. I have a fan I will be putting out there. I have some Christiania Kush clones, some Cherry Kush clones, and some Jack Herer.
For seeds I have:
Peyote Cookies, strawberry lemonade, Tom Ford pink Kush, Mango haze x NL, and a few others
I would prefer to plant them in the ground as the ground of my greenhouse is actually living soil, but I’ve heard it’s pretty much impossible to stop a plant from getting massive when you plant it in ground. I’ve only grown autos in this greenhouse and I’m pretty much done with autos at this point.
So what strain should I choose, when should I move them outdoors, and what would be the best training for them.
Ideal full height can’t exceed 3.5 feet.

I was thinking planting in ground, manifolding ASAP and using LST to get a good 6”-1’ high canopy that spreads around the tent and then topping to increase node count. Plants start transitioning in Mid August where I am at (I asked a local grower)

I’d like to note that I rent, but I am a legal MMJ grower. And honestly my biggest worry isn’t even my landlord I’m pretty doubtful he’d give a fuck I’m actually more worried about being ripped off from my neighbors lol. If anyone has some pictures of some real short PHOTOPERIODS id like to see :)

Simple answer? No.

If you cant have weed taller than 12" ur fucked. You have to remember.... it grows buds, and they grow UPwards.

If its a legal grow, just invest $200 in a digital cam + dvr setup, so if you DO get ripped off, you know exactly which neighbor to go beat the shit out of... (i mean... or call the cops...)

Really? And what state do you live in, smart ass? Try to help some shithead worm asking stupid questions. What did I expect?

By the way the OP is 18 and not even legal to grow besides being wet behind the ears.
LOL.
A: I am a medical marijuana patient, if you read the post - which you clearly didn't - you would have seen me make mention of that.
B: "Shithead worm asking stupid questions". What kind of response is that? You're making me question your age. Ad Hominem. If its such a "stupid question" then why not give reasoning rather than just talking shit. Pipe down, bud.

Those are some really small plants you are looking at growing. You might be better off doing a light dep and covering so you can keep them small and get a few harvests in. Anything long term and you are just going to be affecting your yields by continually trimming them back. Just my opinion, Good luck!

Just put a simple cheap slap it together shed up....

And the question is valid, what state are you in that medical patients can grow cannabis where public can see it?

Dude, you can grow plants that stay under 3ft tall. I do it. Just grow the plant indoors under 24hrs light for a few weeks, top it and then put it outside in July.

The key is to veg under long hours and put outside after the summer equinox.

I cant believe the way some folks responded to your simple question. Good lord, some cranky folks around here.

I have a shed. That’s where I grow my indoor plants. Anyways, I live in Washington. There are no rules on visibility to the public for medical marijuana homegrows under I-692 or the 2016 updated bill. The only people subject to visibility for homegrows in Washington state is I-502 recreational grows but even those don’t have a visibility listing they just have to be surrounded by an 8 foot fence and have some sort of security to prevent somebody from breaking in.

Regardless, I didn’t ask for his legal advice. That has nothing to do with the question I asked. I have a lawyer for that.

Thanks so much man.
That’s what all I needed to know. Mucho appreciated. Do you have any pictures of your grows by chance? :)

I'd stay indoors if you're worried about neighbors. The smell is going to give you away no matter what the size of the plant is and there will be no avoiding that, sadly. Otherwise, invest in a CCTV set up. An 8 channel system can be had for ~$150, a hard drive for another $50. They can be plugged into pretty much any monitor or TV. They're absolutely mandatory, to cover your ass more than anything. Put up warning signs about the CCTV and put them around your yard near the plants. This way if anything happens you can get the cops involved and have video evidence to back you up. Not sure what legal state you're in, but in my experience the cops can be pretty helpful believe it or not.

There are also devices called IR Illuminators that are essentially Infrared spotlights that allow you to see things in the dark as if it were still light outside.

Also helpful to see if the people breaking in are armed or not. Saved me from getting ripped twice, what I would have lost would have cost me WAY more than the $200 I spent on cameras. In my experience, rippers are almost always teenagers. Gangbangers and tweakers are more likely to grow their own than take the risk ripping someone, especially in a state with lax gun laws. Though that isn't to say it hasn't happened before.

As for growing outdoors should you decide to take the risk, if you want to keep your plants under 3ft tall it is very much doable. The solstice happens on June 21st this year, so after that date the daylight will get shorter and shorter which will signal flower within the next couple of weeks after that date.

My recommendation? Go with indica dominant strains for one. Indica strains will only double in size at the absolute max, some won't even double in size at all.

At this point, my advice varies depending on if you're starting from seed or from clone. Looks like you have both so I'll give advice for both.

Seeds: Start them ASAP. By the time the seedlings are big enough to transplant into a large pot the solstice will be around the corner. Top and train the plants to keep growth horizontal, they won't even get close to 3ft tall that way if they're indica strains.

Clones: Veg them under weak lights so they don't grow too much. Put them outside on June 1st in their final pots. In a few weeks when they've established, top and train them.

Stop training and topping once July hits. You should be safe letting the plants stretch by then because if you've done all of the above then the plants won't stretch to be taller than 3ft.

If you want them 3ft tall when all is said and done, then be sure to avoid anything sativa and this includes sativa dominant hybrids. Absolutely nothing with sativa in it.

My last greenhouse run was LA Con and Purple Kush in 15g pots, Blue Dream in 30g pots. I topped and trained all of them. The LA Con and Purple Kush got no taller than 2ft this way, but they were fucking wide. The Blue Dreams on the other hand stretched to a little over 8ft tall in flower.

Look into some fabric privacy cloth too to cover the space. Out of sight, out of mind. Be open and pleasant with your neighbors, when they eventually ask you can simply say you're growing lettuce or tomatoes since you have other plants in your yard. Lettuce/tomatoes need shade cloth to protect them from the sun anyway, so it's not too far fetched.

You are welcome. I meant summer solstice. June 21st is the longest day of the year. Thats what Im referring to. Its the longest day of the year. After which days get shorter not longer.

You can let plants stretch and then top again also. Just wait until flowers start forming and go ahead and top again. It will work out fine. I do the same crap to keep plants out of site of the neighbors even though Im legal.

I have an indoor plant thats going now that I only topped once that should still end up under 3ft pot and all. Can post it if you want.

Another trick you could do is dig a hole and put the pot in the hole so the pot doesnt eat up any head room.

Same. Had to cover my greenhouse with a fence that has 8ft x 25ft of shadecloth to keep the greenhouse out of public view. It covers parts of my house too, so it just looks like I'm trying to block the sunlight from my house to keep the house cooler during the summer.

The frame itself is only 6ft tall, but I dug 1ft deep inside the entire greenhouse to have 7ft of vertical growing room to work with. My indica strains are un-topped, I don't anticipate them growing to be any taller than 6ft all said and done.

My sativas on the other hand are being bent and topped to keep them under 2ft tall until the solstice because they are going to triple in size for sure.

I put the plants in the ground just like you did for the exact same reason. 25-30g pots are a little over 1ft tall and I didn't want to waste the vertical real estate on a pot, so I just dug holes and put my soil in them.

This plant is already in flower for several weeks and is under 3ft with the pot thats 14 inches tall.

The plant is 19" tall. It will probably only grow 6 or 8" more inches. At this point it could be topped again if I wanted to. Not going to but if you need to top again at the end of the stretch ots ok. Buds havent formed yet, you arent gonna lose anything.

Heres an outdoor plant that yielded over a pound and was topped before and again after stretch. It stayed around 3ft tall. Buds were rock hard.

Its never too late to top or trim a plant to the size you want. You can lop off branches and all, its ok, its just a plant. If you need to make it smaller, do it.
