How To Dry Outside

Simple. Calcium Chloride. You can buy a 50lb bag at a Office Supply warehouse/delivery kind of place, the kind of place that supplies offices with big cartons of paper towels etc. Get a cooler or an airtight plastic container(big). Fill up the container with about 3 inches of calcium chloride, then put a paper bag or something on top of it, then throw the weed on. The humidity will drop right down to 50 percent and I don't see any problem with contamination etc. This works real real well. It is only a type of salt.

thats interesting. Soo...rock salt dries it by...?? Why did you title it 'outside'?? Little confused about that. How long does this process take? what kind of test do you use to tell its ready for the next step? What if any are the next steps? It might be simple to you. I'm a simple man, I don't understand. hey bro, i'm a vet too. and this year i hit the sweet spot with my grow. i don't have a place inside to dry the weed and i had a good amount of it. this calcium choride(or ite?) you buy in a big 50lb bag for $50 or so i guess. Put paper or screen on top to keep bud off it, close the lid, and the calcium chloride will suck all the humidity down to 40%, and the bud will dry, it dries quick and evenly. I actually just started this about 5 days ago because i had another methodi but have been "overwhelmed" and swimming in bud, so i had to come up with something that'll do a little quantity. That chemical is a little strong and very salty, so i am going to get these buds out of there once they dry pretty good after about 5-7 days, then i'll continue the drying but with another method.

I'd really rethink this.. I'm no expert but best be safe then sorry..
Calcium chloride is an irritant; wear gloves and goggles to protect hands and eyes; AVOID INHALATION...As this can cause lung damage and or irratation.
Although calcium chloride is relatively safe to handle, care should be taken that it is not ingested. Calcium chloride reacts exothermically with water and can burn the mouth and esophagus

as to the original question put the bud in a burlap bag if possible and put in a spot thats not in the sunlight. you can use paper bags too but they dont breath like the burlap and makesure its closed good cuase we dont want any bugs and worms eating that shit. just check them every day a couple of times so they have fresh air and dont get mold.:blsmoke:

don't you worry about no calcium chloride, it is doing just fine.

bud in burlap bag? - you have got to be kidding? see the problem is that at night everything gets damp outside, your burlap is going to get WET! and you bud is going to soak in dew/moisture all night long, do you live in the desert to be giving such advice? try it, just put a tee shirt on the porch and check it at 10pm, it'll be all wet! and soaked by morning.

don't think burlap is going to work for many of who have to contend with frost very soon. punt on that idea.

I'm sure its doing fine. But do you think its healthy to smoke. Not me..I'll stick with the tried and true methods of drying..

buddy, i would so much love tried and true! but i am extremely limited to "outside" in the woods. this is working well and something for try for others in a similar situation. better this than trying something dangerous and stupid and ending up in trouble. the problem, as you know, this stuff stinks to high heaven when it is ripe(and the stuff i've been pulling is perfectly ripe) and there is no way possible that i could "sneak" a quantity of this stuff into any of the buildings i have access to. (note: i'm a grownup, ha ha)

I like to research alternatives as well as tried and true. I just put together a 'bud dryer' because I don't have a dark cool place to dry. VV

what is a big help is a food dehydrator, the one with the fan from waltmart works fine, although because my buds are so big and i don't have time to cut them all up, i cut out a screen so they can fit. if you have a car with an electrical outlet, and plenty of woods, you can dry it using the dehydrator outside, careful, don't abuse the weed, but just push it along with about 30-45 minutes in the dehyrator, i would think much of the weed in A-dam or for that matter much of the dank you get has been dried that way, because this process is very very long!

People throwing weed in food dryers and drying with calcium chloride is another thing to add to my list of reasons I grow my own.
