How To Deal With Religious Nuts

My mom married an older dude who is a full on religious nut. Pure Southern Baptist nut. My philosophy with religion is live and let live. I don't try to impose my views on others, and I expect the same. I'm not without religion, but I'm also not into organized religion. He frequently gets to harping on me about how I need to go to church. How do I tell him church isn't for me without insulting him? Mainly just that I hate going to a Baptist church with 500+ people there.

In life you can't subject yourself to other peoples' ideas of what or why you should do something,
like you say: live and let live, explain that to him, and just tell him the truth...
say that you don't appreciate being constantly told something you don't believe in, not that you have a problem with him believing it, but again it goes back to the saying...

There is no way to deal with these people. They are blind with ignorance. It's just best to ignore the fellow be friendly and try not to offend them the best you can. My sister is a bible thumper I'm shocked at the shit that offends her. I was telling her the universe is 14 billion years old and she was totally offended because according to the bible it's only a few thousand.

I was raised like a strict Catholic, and the only way i found to be respected by religious nuts, is to show/tell them that you are confident of your own values and morals.
dont show yourself as a "i believe in nothing" kinda guy. if you believe in nothing then you are more likely to be bothered by religious nuts.
believe in something. you have to have some determination abot the universe at least. even if its strictly scientific, just make it yours.

Id personally try and piss him off and keep fucking with him and try to get him convert to Islam.

No need to be a dick about it, in his mind he is trying to help you out. Kindly tell him in the same manner he does to you that you're simply not interested and if some day you would like to know more he'll be the first one you'll approach. Or you can be like the "tolerant" liberals and make a big fucking deal.

i actually have some funny stories about this

so i was out to dinner with my family one night at a restaurant for someones b-day. my aunt was trying to get me to go to her church with her and stuff. i had tried to politely (and quietly because we were having dinner) tell her that i really wasnt interested in going to church (especially with her, sometimes i really cannot stand her lol) and i was getting frustrated at her being so pushy about the subject and was asking me "well why wouldnt you want to go to church?" so i loudly blurted out "because i dont believe in god!" haha in front of my WHOLE mothers side of the family lol. everyone went really quiet and just stared at me...it was actually pretty funny haha

and when random people approach me on the street to talk to me about religion i have an interesting answer for them too lol. there is one lady from a church around where i live who goes to the bus stops handing out the watchtower magazines. shes one of the sweetest people i've EVER met, and even though i dont buy her religion, i adore her and i love to talk with her...but anyway...back on topic. when these people come up to me and try to talk to me, i just tell them that i already have a "religion" and that i dont need theirs. and when they ask me *which* religion...i tell them that i practise witchcraft and that im a traditional witch its not entirely true, but its definitely not a lie either...haha and it really trips them up. they have no idea how to respond and most of them suddenly look very afraid!

sometimes you just have to resort to these tactics. people always want to recruit you to their group. you have to blatantly tell them that you're not interested and you're not discussing it. and if they push the issue, just keep saying "i've already explained that im not discussing this" and thats ALL you say. dont say anything more than that...anything else you say just gives them ammunition to keep asking questions and keep talking about it. you have to be a "broken record" never deviate from your original response. eventually, they're gonna realize that you're absolutely not going to discuss the issue further and they'll be forced to leave you alone, because they're not getting any different response. i learned that in therapy hehe

ask him if he has read the sumerian text!!?? it is where the bible came from basically before there was "1" God!!!all the hebrews nd Islamic people changed it to their own belief!!!.....bro if you get on youtube and check out squibblejack.......you change your whole way of religion and thinkin!!!.....it did to me!!! and I went everytime i could go to church!!!! been baptised and all the good stuff....but after i read the lost bok of Enki and the tablets!!! .....I'm done with people force feeding me !!!
