How to: Chicken wire ???

I have a plant that I am ready to flower. I was curious about the chicken wire. I was told that I could use chicken wire to spread the plant out and allow for more light to get to the bottom. Do you try and spread the plant out by pulling the plant through the chicken wire as far apart as you can get it and if so, how in the world do you get all that through the chicken wire or do you let it just grow through? To me, with this plant, it is big enough, I don't see it just going through. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes you LST the growing branches to the cage with about 3-6" holes with garden tie wire(chicken wire holes are too small.), this encourages branches to grow off branches.. If outdoor use stronger steel like reo.
