How to build lightweigt wall

I need to make a mom room however can’t afford more weight in the loft with plasterboard etc but I need walls to be not plastic nailed to studs as that gets noisy currently

what walking can I useto box out a mom room
Roughly 1.2x1.4 and height Varys at 1m to 2m
So needs to be buildable

Rigid foam insulation. Comes in 4x8 sheets. Weighs next to nothing.

poifect. 1/2" to 1" thick should make it rigid enough when taped together.
easy to work with and cut with a sharp knife and straight edge.

Might need to paint one side of the foam. Its not light proof.

I was thinking of the foil faced product which is light proof. But not knowing where the OP is located they might not have it available. Some materials easily available in the US are not available in other locations around the world.

I just tested it with a spare 1/4 sheet I have. Foil faced on one side and just my phone flash light. Definitely will let some light through. Nothing crazy but it’ll glow.

You're blasting a high powered light inches away from it at one spot. Plus not all of it is the same. Different ratings. Some have thicker/different foil and density of foam.

I mean, my flower room can get 1100W. I’d wager that’s a bit more intense than a 18V battery.

Not really interested in a pissing contest. I just wouldn’t say it’s light proof. If it was me, I’d add a layer of panda film or something.

Nobody's in a pissing contest. There's a difference between high intensity lighting getting through to outside vs ambient light getting inside disrupting the dark cycle. I used that stuff in a basement I sectioned off for years without any issue. I only posted it as an option to the OP who has concerns about weight from sheetrock. Someone else posted their grow room using the same stuff and they're not having any issues.

I'm not trying to argue. It's just an option available that may work. It did for me without any need for paint or other material covering it. It may for the OP as well.

My local hardware store only has this type. Wasn’t aware there is something better.

I used two layers of rigid foam which solved my issues. My grow room is frame 2x4’s with rigid foam.

Fair enough. I was trying to prevent my grow room from glowing since my neighbors can glimpse the room when I open the garage.

Ya prices on it are nuts it has doubled in the last 2 yrs

Everything has at least doubled in past 2 yrs except beer that seems to be holding steady.

I use all sorts to make reflective walls.
Cardboard wrapped in reflective sheeting, polystyrene sheets, they break easy at edges though, bit of gorrila tape sorts that out. You can cover them with reflective sheeting too.
There's also insulated reflective double sided silver bubblewrap that can be stapled to studs or wrapped over a tent.

These are cheap too. £16. 4ft x 8ft x 25mm

Order some panda film and put over the foam
