How to build a light mover

i searched around the forums and couldn't really find a good diy light moving rail. i did some research and found this.

I dont know a lot about robotics, but from the decent amount i know about electricity, it seems legit. i haven't tried it yet, but i plan to. for anyone who has, how did it turn out? and what wattage did you use for your motor? the legit light rails you can get for 200$ use a 5 watt motor i beleive, so it'd be in that ball park i assume. i know this diy doesnt account for everything people want in a light mover (ie end delay), but i was hoping instead of pointing out whats missing, maybe everyone with a bit of knowledge could share some and we could have a complete DIY instructions soon. so any questions/concerns/ helpful additions?

garage door opener....

i thought of that , but a garage door opener would be way too expensive to make the diy truly worth it. they're like 120$ i think

I like the idea of using the board and moving it yourself. If you want to keep your cost down, that along with multiple hanging areas would be the way to go. The only problem is you'd have to be there to switch it all around.
