Light Rails Causing Hermies

Has anyone ever had light rails/movers cause hermies? Just thought I would Ask, but if you think about it, the “sun” coming and going away several times a day could definitely be confusing for a plant. That being said, the sun goes behind clouds all the time so I’m not sure. All I know Is, I have Done 3 grows. The first two were both GG4 and OG Kush. The first time got hermies littered throughout. From the clones I took from them, I tried Again on grow #2 and was very successful. I was Only about half capacity though so I didnt Use my light movers, just kept the lights in the same place the whole time. The 3rd grow was Mendo Breath, Duct Tape, and Pineapple Express, back to using light rails and hermies littered throughout. I havebt Been able to
Identify any stressors and zero light leaks, I’ve even chopped a couple and checked the roots to make sure I didn't have root aphids or something. The light rails are the only thing different. Anyone else think about that possibly? I do Use SuperThrive in Veg though but I did that on them all. However, I’m going to be taking that out of my nutrient schedule, not worth the risk. Anyway, will be great to hear what more seasoned growers have to say. Thanks guys.

i would guess probably not. just a guess though.

never understood the whole concept: for what you spend on it, just buy another light.

Light movers are a gimmick. Your environment is artificial and not all of the outside rules apply.

All your doing with a grow light is throwing energy at the plant. Enough energy for the time period. 18/6 or 12/12.

I understand the theory behind a light mover. Moving a grow light along the top of the plant. Mimic of the sun and clouds. Outside, lux readings go past 100,000+lux on a bright day. In your room, they shouldn't be going past 65k.

So, using a mover that passes a 15k-20k lux light over the plants ain't doing anything but starving the plants of energy.

On super thrive. There's zero reason to use it. It's not going to add bud and a properly grown and healthy plant doesn't need it.

Who's talking from experience with a light mover?
I wouldn’t buy another but to say it's a gimmick isn't accurate, it's purpose isn't to move the light from bright to dark, it moves the light from intense to bright af over a slightly larger area not constantly scorching the plants, if you're using it right you'll benifit from it some.

For the cost of a mover. Then money is better spent buying more light that covers the plants all at the same time.

Then using a mover to try and improve the performance of a weaker light.

More watts closer to the canopy. It moves so hot spots and shadows are gone. With another light heat and electric bill goes up. I've used one still have it but didn't work in my current setup. But lots of good reasons to use one.

You're not speaking from experience. Please stick to the things you do have it in. Not being a dick but throwing around a bunch of "what you think and not what you know" is confusing to new growers.

What? Dude, you don't know me.

I have experience with a mover. But definitely not on my plants. Helped a friend that did use one, in person. Its a POS device used to remove money from your pockets. So before you start assuming things. Stick to what you know. Keep using a mover. I didn't make you buy it. Blame the salesman.

I used light movers when I grew with 1000 watt HPS bulbs. I only moved the lights about 18 inches back and forth and the plants never went without light. I could get those big ole bulbs pretty close to the canopy because of the movement, making for some big dense colas. Never had a problem with hermies because of the movers though.

Listen I'm not here to go back and forth with you. I have personally used one not my friend used one. I also said I don't currently use it. In certain situations it is a good tool to have. Salesmen don't persuade me.

Thanks for all the responses, I really Appreciate it. It’s almost like someone did a magic trick and turned all my plants from female to males, it’s that crazy. I can Say, all the pollen sacks are on the interior parts of the plants and on the lower half. I removed All the branches with pollen sacs and I’m going to complete the round because all of my main colas are still all white hairs so I’m hoping I can Salvage some of this but it’s safe to say I’m hoping for the best but expecting the worst. I talked To someone last night that said maybe I have Some foul play going on and someone colloidal silvered my room?!? Unfortunately, in the NW, there’s more haters per capita than anywhere else in the world so it’s totally possible but I lock Up my grow when I’m not here so hopefully that hasn’t happened. I did add 100ml of h2o2 to my 70 gallon reservoirs, has anyone ever had that cause them. I chopped a few to check the roots and no root aphids but I do Have springtails. Everything I’ve read claims they are beneficial? Also, I’ve been using SuperThrive in Veg but I’m eliminating that moving forward. Any thoughts when I add This info to the post. Thanks again everyone, really appreciate your time and feedback.

I meep Bringing the SuperThrive up because I’ve read a lot about that causing hermies? Anyone have experience with SuperThrive causing hermies? It’s definitely not worth the risk, but at this point, I still haven’t identified any stressors. In regards to the light movers, I have an 18 x 15 room with three 12 foot x 4 foot tables and the light movers go all the way down and back and are in the aisles between each table. Anyway, thanks again for the feedback.

It's not ideal but it's not the end of the world either ime, I've had bits of seeded bud and it wasn't terrible to smoke it was all right.

I once had 7/8 Nl hermies 3/4th week, they cost me £125 + flights and hotel, as you can imagine I'm very reluctant to spend silly money now.

nah a light mover wont cause hermies.
Hermie seeds cause hermie plants. I stress the hell out of my plants all the time and any strains that haven't gone hermie don't go hermie because of stress. I use a Light Rail 4.0 when I need better coverage and 9W for the rail is better than another 600W for more and often excessive coverage. The heat I can deal with.

Anybody who thinks it's a gimmick should keep their uneducated opinions to themselves. A lot of commercial greenhouses use them to keep their energy and new bulb costs way down. I've only used mine a few times since getting it a few years ago and at 23.5¢/kwh for power it's definitely paid for itself if not more by now. A quality product made in Colorado and worth every penny. The plants don't go from light to dark just back and forth in intensity and when you can run a 1000W HPS a foot away from the tops without cooking anything you know it's damn intense. You don't really get a 100% increase in coverage tho you could but if a 1000W will do 5x5 than with the rail you'll have great coverage getting 5x8. Would kill in a 4x8' tent with one or a good LED setup too.
