Ok my soil was around 5.5 acidic so i go and buy the ph up and down so i add the ph up dosage to my tap water, then i flush the soil with ph up, a few hours later im checking my soil again and now its at about 3.5 acidic.....wat am i doing wrong?????:confused::confused::confused: O and should i flush again right away or wait a day or two????

I Would Wait A Bit... As Not To Over Water Her.!!! Are U Letting The Mix Sit For A Bit "settle" And Then Ph~ing...get Results... Make Small Adj.'s Let "settle" Re Check. ??? Db.~tlb! :)

If pH'ing soil is anywhere near similar to adjusting the pH in a pool, remember a little goes a long way, and sometimes takes hours or days to adjust accordingly and correctly. I say chill and smoke a bowl, wait it out. :joint:

what is the ph of your tap water? i would flush and get the right ph as fast as possible, having the wrong ph will surely kill your ladies, also dont add any nutrients until ph is corrected, it will just make things worse. What type of ph tester are you using?

my tap water is about 4.5 on the acidic side...and im using a basic soil ph tester for my soil and another tester for my water where i have to use 4drops of phenol red

Ok, I Grow In Soil The Best Way Is To Just Ph The Mix And Let The Soil Go.... If U Want Ph The Run Off After Watering... Jmt's. Db.~tlb! :)

ok i understand a lil bit but this test kit for the water is so basic its confusing me the higher it goes on water ph tester its higher acidity and with the soil ph tester the higher alkaline...

Mine Drove Me Up The Wall The Same, Way... Just Dont Think About It And Do What It Tells...u' We Want The Nute Mix Going In To Be At The 6. Mark.! Any Less Or More Then, Hit With The Up/dwn... My Soil/mix Is Nuetrual. 0' Lets Say.
My Nute Mix Is 6. Im Pouring In The Pot.
My End Results Run~off Should Be 6. Phuck The Soil Testing.!!! Jmt's

ok cause im all about the baby steps but my plants are just babies going on 2weeks and i have not started the nutes and i wont for another week or so...and they are getting a lil yellow....i bought some lime and added it when i was ph-ing so, am i taking a risk by letting them sit or should i get it right????

ok that soil ph tester is garbage and that is the best place for it. secondly you cant use that solution to test the drainage because the dirty water changes the color of the sample. i doubt your tap water is 4.5 that is really acidic. So i would suggest you invest in a digital ph meter. also when you add that solution to your water you have to hold it up to a white backdrop in a well lit room

i think your right about the soil tester and you suggested i flush the soil again to get it right an not let them die is this LEGIT????

I don't use a tester..but I had my evaporated water checked 7.4...boiled 7.8..I put dolomite lime mixed with my soil (or you can add to water) it brings the soil to a neutral PH of 7, for the soil.... it worked well.. now I add 1/2 teaspoon to 10gal water every 2nd water. when I worked as a printer we had to change PH all the time for different inks..magnetic (cheques) coated stocks, or using colbalt as dryers.. the vinegar down & soda up take practice..1 or 2 DROPs can lower or raise the ph in a gallon of water.. try for a 6.2 - 6.8 for soil

If it were my plants goodie i would flush until my soils ph was were i wanted it to be. when ph is off the plant cant absorb some nutrients but can still absorb others so it would be unwise to add more nutrients now because they would just build up in the soil and when ph finally gets corrected you will be sure to get nute burn, I ph my soil before i put my plants in it, this is good practise and will save you lots of trouble in the future. If the ph level isnt corrected in a timely fashion the plant will surely die! adding some lime to your soil will work great like suggested by Twisty. This is always a good way to go if you dont have a digital ph meter. My ph meter is the most important grow tool i own
