How Tall???

Was wondering how tall could or should i let 3 plants get to fill a 3.5x3.5x10 room? All 3 are mainly indica(BB Cheese, Yumbolt-47) the 47's are close to 10" and the cheese is still around 7". any info/suggestions is greatly appreciated.:peace:
 
With a 10 foot ceiling, it's going to be the light that is your limiting factor, not the plant heigth. The light can only penetrate so far, so we need to know what type of lighting you are using, before we can suggest a max heigth. But, even if you are using a 1000 watt HPS, you probably won't want to go much more than 4 feet tall, finished heigth. That would be about 24-30" in veg.
 
I have a 400watt hps waitin for flower to kick in! so what height should i be aiming for in veg?
 
a 400 watt light only provides 24 inches of useful penetration, then you have to subtract the 6 inches to 8 inches it has to be away from the plant. I would suggest topping and flower at 10 to 12 inches tall. Or you will need some supplemental lighting for the lower buds.
 
would cfl's be sufficient for side lighting? And if so what size? (keep in mind that they gotta be low cost) How close can i get them to the plants?

I'm in soil FFOF and GB, BB & TB.

I don't worry about side lighting, because I take clones from the bottoms of the plants. (about 3 weeks into flowering)

I keep my 400 watt HPS about 3-4 inches from the tops during flowering (once the buds get going) as I have a Sun Systems Air Cooled Hood.

That's how I get the big buds. The 400 gives you plenty of penetration for big colas.

1 more question. when exactly is the best time to take clones? and when i do take clones, am i supposed to cut entire branch and then take clone off of that? the reason i ask that is because if u only take a little clone, what happens to the rest of that stem? sorry for being a newb! smh

Take your clones 3 weeks into flower.

Cut off a small branch that looks healthy but is low on the plant, a branch that is to low to bud up right. Trim it to the size you want to use as a clone.

There are a number of tutorials on this site regarding cloning. :mrgreen:
