How tall for flowering?

My girls have ben in veg for 2 weeks, and two groups (of 18, totalling 36) are sitting at about 9-12in. on average.

Just wondering when a good height to start flowering is in a bubbleponic system, thanks.

All depends on how much space you have in the grow room, if they are 1 foot when you start to flower your best bet is they will be around 3 feet at harvest.

they have about 32in. to grow before getting dangerously close to the light.

I will also consider bending the plant if they get too big, but I try to select strains that are relatively short for flowering.

Man, you better get them bitches in 12/12!

yeah thats probably a good idea, i was thinking of doing that right away.

Most are about 12in. and i was thinking of flowering them next feed but they've only been in veg for two weeks coming up on third week.

That should be enough time im thinking if they are that tall? suggestions here??

They HAVE about 32 inches to grow, not They ARE 32 inches.

He's only been in VEG for 2 weeks... YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME MY FRIEND. Between 2 weeks and ONE MONTH. You can VEG for 4-6 weeks... give or take.

Also, it's not just the HEIGHT of the plants that matter... it's the thickness of the stems, leaves, root growth, etc.

Good info.

9-12" in 2 weeks is amazing. How are you getting that?

Whoa buddy, calm the fuck down. You got no reason to be coming at me like that.
He's obviously growing a primarily sativa strain that is already growing tall very quickly.
I'd expect these to triple in height after flowering. That means he's expecting 24" of growth if he goes in right now. Seeing as 32"="Dangerously close", I'd say that it would probably be a good idea to initiate flowering very soon.

What the fuck are you saying? Thickness of the stems, what? Are you talking about maturation?

themaso, I think what nasd90 is probably trying to convey at is that if you're growing from seed, some strains will only reach full potential if they've reached maturity before initiating flowering. This is generally indicated by the plant showing preflowers and/or changing it's branching pattern from the symetrical pattern to alternating nodes, where the branches no longer line up on both sides.

That does not mean that you cannot flower a plant whenever you see fit. If 32" means dangerously close, I'd consider starting flowering within another inch or two of growth, which can mean 3-6 inches of total growth after flowering. Considering the rapid growth that you're seeing so far, I'd say those 1-2" are gonna come pretty damn quick. I believe if you wait "2 weeks to one month", your plants are going to greatly outgrow your size restrictions.
It seems to me, nasd90 that it is the HEIGHT of the plants that matters.

Calm down there...

If you could just take the time and read, this is what he wrote:

"...they have about 32in. to grow before getting dangerously close to the light..."

Meaning, they HAVE about THIRTY TWO INCHES TO GROW ... not, they are 32 inches.

You need to go smoke... :bigjoint:

Yeah, I got that part. Did you read?

yeah they actually have 32inches right from seed even, the 32in. is the distance between the bottom of the stem (rootball, whatever u like) all the way to the glass at the top covering the lights, (the lights are about 4inches from the glass)

So i'll have to eventually bend my plants here, i have some pics as well ill upload now, some aren't in optimal health due to spidermites and ph fluctuation, but it looks like both those are finally under control now.

Believe it or not, I bought these clones and they said it was a primarily indica strain and will grow more bulky and not as tall, hopefully they stay relatively short

I appreciate all the help guys, im going to initiate flowering this thursday on their next feed.

there are a few runts in the group but that was from the spidermites.

keeping lights as close as possible will not only keep plants shorter but also increase lumen efficiency.

yeah id like to get them closer, but they are all in a box and there is no way for me to lower the lights cause it isn't built to do so.
