How paranoid should I be about fan noise?

Dannoo93 - just a straight answer, please, as I need your help and have already poked around for info. It looks as though you have experience using duct mufflers. Do they work as advertised? Is there a specific configuration that works better than others? Big ups in advance.
Yes it drops the sound in half easily from outside the grow room window u can hear a faint humming from the actual inline fans I have bungeed in the air to reduce noise vibration. I duct the actual duct muffler into my hall way quieter then an oscillating fan I paid 50ish $

Imho somethings are better to pay for rather then trying to build

RiU, I have a 440cfm fan as a secondary scrubber in my attic. I'm paranoid because when you stand at the front door of my house you can hear it through the roof vents. I'm not sure if a cop would think maybe its just the central air or would it be clear to them. I unplugged it since now and am only relying on my grow closet scrubber, I also have an Ona bucket in there as well.
I was concerned about noise too but mostly electricity so I bought a Variac brand transformer that adjusts the speed of the fan. It works like a charm. I keep my fan at about 75% and the change in noise is significant. The fan is also suspened inside my grow tent so that help suppress the sound. You can buy the Variac on Amazon or eBay. It is the heavy-duty, electrically correct way to slow down devices (even coffee grinders, etc.).

Dannoo93 - Thanks. I couldn't agree more. I saw someone on here once say "When you go cheap, you GROW cheap". I just wanted to make sure it was worth it.
