You should sex the plant before you even start cloning, you could have sexed it a few weeks after germinating it......once you get the clone, it's alot of other things you need to be focussed on.....so from now on, you need to sex your plants early.......but if you just got to do it to the clone, give the clone time develop a healthy root system first, then setup it up in your medium, give another few weeks, then sex it.......

Yes, putting a clone into 12/12 is the noob way to sex.

I sex all my plants by checking the Preflowers, those show when the plants reach sexual maturity at about 1 month or a bit longer, depends on strain.

I have also found that if you top a plant at about the 6 - 7 th node the plant will show preflowers @ the split.

If you wait and dont top it it just takes a bit longer. At about the 8th node is when the plants are mature.

This is the method I use. Right at the 6-7th node.
Except the 8th node plants being mature? I dunno about that.
Plants are mature when you see the pre sex or when limbs go asymetrical (not straight across).

Last time i did this it took at least 2 monthes from germination to see pre flowers. I thought the clone for sex way might be quicker. Maybe this time they will show up quicker. Last time the strain was afgahni. This time its a great white shark and M39 strain

what about taking my seedling and putting it in flower to determine sex, then put it back in veg and take clones after a week or two? that way the plant is growing the whole time and if ti turns out female i will be able to get more clones sooner.

On average it takes 2 weeks for them to start to flower. Then you put them back on 24 or 18/6 and they have to go through stress which can cause hermie and a whole lot of wasted time.

SO TAKE A CLONE AND FLOWER IT WHILE THE DONOR KEEPS GROWING. THEN IF it is female it will still be growing strong.
