How often should I be checking trichomes??

Hey guys I've got a minimicroscope from RadioShack and I'm just wondering how often I should be checking the trichomes for color change. I'm in week 5 of flowering and they're still pretty much all clear. And is it ok to just be checking the bud leaves? Cus I feel bad enough cutting off the leaves with crystals on them, let alone the buds themselves!!!

You dont need to cut whole leaves off, just use tweezers to remove the trichs. You should be checking them at least once every 10minutes 24 hours a day otherwise you risk trichology.

Lol thanks ass, real helpful... jk. I'm jus cutting off the tips really, barely any of the leaf at all.

Clipping a small piece of bud/bud-leaf is how most of us view our trichs readiness.
I check mine weekly. Don't worry about going a little too long. It's rare, especially for a first harvest. A whole lotta folks grab it too early the first few times. It's not like one day it'll be cloudy and clear, and the next, all amber.

When viewing the trichs with a magnifier I put a glass slide over the specimen. The mag can be rested directly on the glass and focused, and you can move the scope around easily.

Doesn't this result in smashed trichs and false visions? I mean, the trichs heads do sit on a spike.

why not just look at the plants trichs wen still on the plants with a 30x magnifying glass..??? cutting bits of the plant off

Can't REALLY see well enough w/30X loupe, or at least this old man can't. No comparison to 100X mini-mic. A world of difference. If you've never seen trichs super close-up, it's quite extraordinary. I had, thru a real microscope, but this RadioShack mic does a real decent job, despite it being near impossible to view the trichs while still on the plant.

i agree last time i used a 10x mag and was pretty easy to c trichs. jus recieved my own 30x mag with light from growell and i c wat ya mean talk about eat my words lol its a nightmare and guess wat i ended up cutting of a liitle leaf lol soz for being such a pretencious twat
