how much yellow is too much yellow?

I'm at 7 weeks flowering and the buds look delicious, but I'm concerned because all plants have lost most fan leaves and those remaining are mostly yellow. I understand towards the end of flowering this process is generally normal, but still.... HOW MUCH YELLOW IS TOO MUCH? My fear is that a few plants look to need at least 2 more weeks. But if all fan leaves are completely gone by then, how will the plant be able to absorb enough light?

no idea without as pic but it's too late for nitrogen now. next time feed a little more grow during flowering

well the yellow comes from a nitrogen diffeciencey. the buds strip it from the leaves as N requirements go up.

yellow leaves are still photosynthesizing to a degree.
even if it looses all leaves it can absorb light through alot of its other mass

Leaves bleaching out is a common side effect from most commercial bloom nutes. Augmenting your nutes is necessary if you want to avoid as much bellowing. I use worm tea once a week throughout most of the bloom cycle to avoid this problem.

As for you now.. there's not anything you can do really. Let the buds finish as best they can (you should probably start flushing anyway if you're less than 2 weeks away) and learn from the experience.

I wanted to use less nutes this time, and more quality soil mix, as i'm trying to go more towards the organic route. I like using nutes to guide the plant, not push it. Only applied nutes once during veg., then once at the start of flowering. They've only started the extreme yellowing in the last week or so. Never seen this happen so quickly. Luckily the buds still appear healthy. I suppose this will be a nice experiment to see how well the plant can do without as much foliage as usual. Sorry no pics.

Thanks for all the quick feedback, peoples.

So if plants start yellowing and dropping fans say 2-3 weeks into bud, it needs more nutes eh? Mine always do this, but the weed comes out ok. Can always be better. I was under the impression that the yellowing was completely normal, but I have begun feeding more in the current grow. I am also optimizing CO2, so likely that they do need more nutes than I have been giving anyway.

If that is your desire, check out subcool's super soil recipe the organic growing section. You can use just r/o water with that. (though I would recommend adding beneficial fungi and bacteria,as well as added sugar) There are also plenty of good nutes you can add and still stay organic. I use mother earth super tea bloom formula from advanced nutrients, fox farm big bloom, fish emultion from dutch hydroponics, molasses, worm tea, and vermitea brand compost tea. All are high quality organic nutrient products.
