how much should a gram of honey oil cost?

there are some good info on this site in the concentrates and extracts section....
and plently of daily posters like qwizoking, others...who will usually point you in the right direction...
Great point. All of these sites have their share of concentrate wizards, and processes (and sharing of information) have come a long way in recent years. I've still very new at solvent extractions, I've only ever made bubble hash in the past. This recent batch of rock budder that that I made blows any bubble hash I've ever made out of the water though (taste and potency), and the light blond colour is just gorgeous. Check out the melt on this stuff:

I've only made bubble. Really looking forward to trying new things.
I kinda find it intimidating though.

purging the shit(oil) correctly, most important.

for taste and cleanliness of a product..... bubble is the only way in my opinion as it is far easier in produce and less dangerous :)

Now..if you know how to make shatter correctly. That's a different story. :)

I did too, but it's really not that hard. It just takes a few bucks to get the proper equipment, and it's much more of a pain in the ass due to the safety hazard and the need to do most of it outside.

Just as mentioned above leaffan, nothing to be intimidated about. So long as you make safety the #1 priority and don't rush or cut corners, it's actually VERY easy. I have some suggestions on a few little items which are easily found(no online ordering, just go to a local brick and mortar.) and a lesser cost if you want to have a smaller trial run to test the waters. All in I'd say about $30-35 with butane. Purging vac chamber how ever is not included, those things are a tad pricey

Vacs are used more for oil you burn. Less heat the better. ;)

You can still make meds for ingesting purposes without using a vac.

If you buy good equipment the danger is reduced....but yes NEVER inside....hehehehehe...unless you have a Tamisium extractor....then your good inside

Yeah, I just don't run enough to justify the $1500 investment in a closed-loop system. For those that do, those things are fantastic though. I'm primarily a flower smoker, concentrates are just an occasional treat.

"if you get 2 ozs out of a lb of good bud you are doing good....80 grams sounds like it hasn't been cleaned properly....just my .02 after 20 years of making goo...;))"

Keep at it Mr!!!

...been at it far longer eh

;)

depends on the strain ,,,you should know that at least.

:)

so what,,,52 grams from a pound is ok because that's what you get?

lmaorotff..... Keep at it. You'll figure it all out. Ive already stated that you get 50 to 80 grams.. but hey..thats unheard of because you cant do that lol....ppphhhhtttt

better? where do I say I'm better?
I said if you keep at it and find a good strain, you will have a better return.
You disagreed with me saying my shit was dirty and that it was not possible to have an 80 gram return lol

Easy and cheap way to vac purge is with a food saver vacuum sealer. Get the Tupperware container that goes with it and you have a vac chamber. Takes longer than a lab grade one to fully purge your oil but works great. I make some fantastic shatter with that setup.

I should also mention I recommend using a heating pad or something similar underneath the chamber to keep the oils less viscous and to increase the vacuum in the chamber. Once it's fully purged, dependant on the strain, you'll have some nice crystal clear shatter :-)DSC_0315.JPG

Interesting....do you have a pic of which model of food saver sealer you have or how you rig this all up? I'm trying to picture how you would draw enough of a vacuum with one of those things.

I'm stupid...you have to keep it running?

You have to pull a vacuum for an extended period over low heat while the product muffins up, collapses once most of the gas is gone, and then completely finishes bubbling indicating that all gas is removed. It takes time, and varies depending on the quality of gear and amount of vacuum you are pulling. When you put unpurged BHO in a vac chamber it goes crazy for a while.

For honeycomb, people will sometimes purge for 12+ hours.

What you do is, heat up you heating pad as hot as it will get, place your oil in the chamber build vacuum in the chamber, turn off the food saver let it sit for a bit. Reheat your heating pad place it under the chamber and turn it back on to build the vacuum back up to its max again. Repeat as many times.times as necessary to achieve the desired consistency. Sometimes I just go for wax. I find it easier to handle than shatter, breaking all the time, falling on the floor etc.
