Waste not, want not...

My plants are the main factor in keeping my costs as low as possible.
The plant itself can pay for itself as it grows and after it's harvested.
And I'm not talking about the harvest itself. I'm am only talking about the plant.

So lets talk about: Trimmings/cuttings, leaf matter and stalks/roots.

Trimmings = clones.
Clones = free plants
Clones = Range from $15 to $30 a piece .

Trimmings/cutting = hash, hash oils, butters, tinctures (non-alcoholic tinctures too)
No sugar tinctures for those with sugar problems.
All are very viable medicinal products.

Now for the part I just love..

What about the roots/stalks ?
What can you possibly get from the stalks and roots right ?

How about one of the best balms imaginable from the roots and stalk of your plants.
Arthritis, muscle aches, etc...

So share some of the products that you are able to get from your plant.
Ways you have reduced your costs while at the same time raising your productions of medical products.

Alright, here's a question for you, since I was with you all the way down to the roots and stalks. Perhaps you'd be willing to share the recipe for the balm?

Edit: Oh, and +Rep for the idea for this thread. Looking forward to seeing future posts. Gonna be some great ideas here.

I sure would.

The idea is to share ideas and help educate one another.
So if I don't already have a recipe I will find it.
Everything I have came from the web.

Balm:

This harvest I decided to make my balm with the dried rootmass of 1 skunkmix plant and the freshly harvested rootmass of a haze plant.

I tore these up into smallish pieces...Ideally I would have ground them in a blender...but I don't have one!:)...I put the torn up rootmass and 2 cups of oil into a slow cooker with 6 cups of water.
The reason I put 3-1 water-oil is this way I can keep it @ a roiling boil without deepfrying the roots.

I leave the cooker on 12-14 hours, checking it to top up the water as it evaporates {I put the lid on but it still does evaporate} and @ the end I pull the root pulp out and strain the lot through a clean giant sized chux cloth {pre-washed} and put it in the freezer to...freeze:cool:

The root pulp can be put back into the cooker with some more water to boil a few more hours...do not put more oil in...the purpose of this second 'cook' is to release the remaining oil and alkaloids from the roots.
When done, strain and freeze like the first batch...

Depending on if you squeezed out the root pulp the first batch, you might get up to the same amount of oil from the second batch you 'cook'.

When the water has frozen, pour off the oil from both batches into a pot and heat gently on the stove...dissolve some bee's wax into the oil...a piece half the size of your thumb would be enough to make 2 or more cups of balm...add small pieces and dissolve it into the oil....test it every now and then to see how thick it is.
With a little practice you can get the consistency you want to make it spreadable @room temp.

Scent can be added now if you want it aromatic...or there are other ingredients you can add and experiment with.

Hope thats what you needed...

I want to start an experiment of cloning with roots. I have removed plants from pots to leave a few stray roots in the soil and sometimes they sprout just like little seedlings.

i always make bubble hash outta my large plant matter. the smaller trimmings i make green dragon, or canni-butter. both are very powerful in easing peoples pain.

I've never tried it myself but have heard of people using their bubble waste a second time and cooked it off for butter.

Has anyone tried a second extraction of the leaf matter and if so was it worth it ?
Not just running it through the same process twice but used waste in a different mannor to extract more.

yes dont throw away your bubble hash waste cook it and make butter. there is a lot of stuff left for butter. coconut butter also works like beeswax and will thicken @ room temp. or use coconut butter instead of oil at the start it will thicken without adding beeswax right out of the pot. problem with coconut butter is the high cholesterol/sat fats.

I like to gently open the main stem of a harvested plant. I'll open up the main stem, and gently start pulling out the inner-fibers, from the inside walls.. from the inside of the main stem. I'll use these fibers to make my clothes sometimes.

I'm actually working on making a fully functioning and usable pair of sandles that you/I can actually wear and use. I've got the main part of them done, I'm still in the process of gathering up enough fiber in order to complete this project. I just need enough fiber to finish the project.. which all I have left to make, are the straps that will be used to keep your feet inside the sandle. Genius!! :D

peace..

Alright, this might be slightly off topic. In the interest of letting nothing go to waste...has anyone ever tried extracting useful substances from pipe tar("Resin"). I know some people smoke it when they're desperate, but I was thinking maybe making those tincture drops....I definitely wouldn't use it for cooking.

Just wondering.

One day I want to do some bagseed outdoors and just let them grow wild. Come back, grab up all the seeds, dry them out for a month or two...

And then toss them in my Popcorn maker!

Who knows... Might be fun! I hear the seeds of the Cannabis plant contain all of the Amino-acids required to sustain life. ALL OF THEM.

I'm pretty sure you could build a house out of hemp and plastics derived from cannabis oils, maybe a little "mud".
Then you could each Cannabis seeds to sustain yourself.
Smoke the charas to get irie.
Clothe yourself, warm yourself, feed yourself, protect yourself.

The Cannabis plant can do it all.

Someone on RIU discussed using stem fibers as inert material for their soiless grow. He claimed it was like coir, only better.

Sorry I couldn't relocate the thread. :sad: If anyone knows of it, point it my way, please.

I weave the fibers into frying pans.
Feckin Brilliant Idea Gastanker ,

With that concept I think I'll work on developing a Waste Hemp Fiber Wind Turbine Generator . The only feckin potential problem I'm runnin across is when it Snows or Rains ,,,
