How much light intensity?

Can anyone give me an idea or link to something about how much light intensity is needed for veg and bloom? Ive been using a light meter that works in LUX. I read somewhere that 30,000 LUX for veg and 50,000 for bloom is what do go for. I know your supposed to measure in foot candles but....
Ive been doing that with the meter and it seems to be working for the plants good but Im wondering if its optimal cause I want maxium weight.

What do run for lighting now?

600 works for a 4x4 just fine....If you intend to run sativa's or sativa dominate strains......go to a 1K.....
T5's work too....you just need to play with the proper "temp" bulbs and use enough of them!
LED's are not yet where they should be.....They can and do work....just not to the level I and others want. They can be a nice spectral supplement...
I meter my lights. But only to judge their effective life by out-put...

I respect your question and counter with maybe this.
Marijuana Grower's Handbook: Your Complete Guide for Medical and Personal Marijuana Cultivation: Ed Rosenthal, Tommy Chong: 9780932551467: Amazon.com: Books
Ed goes into some lighting details that your looking for in this book...
Jorge Cervantes did some extensive lighting research.....Google that and lighting needs of cannabis. from there you should be able to find plenty of sub-genre lighting specifics that will make your head spin with knowledge....

Drop in on this thread a minute and look around too.

This should give you hints on what to google up too.
