How much LED light can a plant handle?

We adjust up to about 45w/SF about halfway in flower and drop the COBs quite close in the last 2 weeks or so.

With standard HPS the cutoff for when CO2 becomes usefull is about 1000W. So, say around 700umol/m2 I would venture.

That's awesome, and I know all light systems are different I'm running Vero cobs and meanwell drivers and right where your running at is where I saw my results maximized.
Sure I could of pushed more by increasing nutes, raising temp and co2 and we could probably see gains just past the 50w per square ft with high quality cobs. So far though a year and a half since I built my first led cob system and Ill never go back to running 1970s street lamp technology lol

Hey what are you running your veros at? Iv just got my light up and running 6x 52v with 2x 1750ma drivers total 546 led watts in a 4x4.

Only thing I would change would be going to 600w per 4x4 or 37.5 per cob instead of the 500w I'm using but as you can see. Tons of weight, amazing colors, crystals exploding. No bleaching no burning.

From center to center how far apart do you have your cobs on one bar or row?

What I did was knew I wanted 1 cob per square ft. So I laid out a 4'x4' grid on the floor with tape, grided off each 1'x1' section and placed my Cob heatsink in the middle of that 1'x1' square. Once all my cobs were laid out I cut my frames and built the frames around where I wanted to place my lights, ie 1 cob per sq ft close to center as I care to get them!!!! I'm only pushing them at 1050mAh
At canopy on my lux meter I'm getting 45,000-50,000 thats 8" under the cob where I try to keep my canopy but the reality is a handful are at 8" and the rest and majority fall 10-12" range. Never had bleaching problems never burned and leaves or flowers. Mine breaks down to about 31.5 watts per cob so you can get them closer.

Btw which Veros are you running I used Vero 18s @ 1050mAh for my flower lights and Vero 13s @ 700mAh for veg and Vero 10s@ 500 mAh for my mom's and clones while they are in aeroponic cloner. that maybe why I can get mine down close. Yeah the Vero 29s you could never run that close to canopy, I would say that 1.5-1.75' from canopy that your running is close to ideal.
Here is a discussion on light conversion factors, along with links to multiple formulas and conversion calculations.
It's a lot of work (math and science knowledge) but if you want to know what your light is putting out in ppfd or umols over your area this will be a good place to start. Several valuable links on the following page

Downloaded a lux app to get a rough idea!
That will get you in the ballpark of brightness, the Vero 29s will probably peg the meter think most of them go up to about 60,000.
Fairly accurate I have a hand held lux meter also and tested them against app meter and then a app meter hardware combo all 3 within a couple percent of each other

That's Awesome what a very clean professional looking build, that's where I wish I would of slowed down when building my lights, I took all that time measuring and laying out my ideal placement, took my time soldering everything up, but when I built my frames I just slammed them together, and it clearly shows :( whawhawannnnnn lol
No problem with the help I notice there is a fair amount of disinformation and just plain bad advice flowing around on some of these sites.
I try my best to post my real world experiences with tangible documentation to show what I'm trying to say. Growing has just been years of reading, reading, testing, testing and more reading lol. Just make sure we can filter the bs that's out there.
It's kinda like watching the media now days. Here are a ton of huge lies to absorb, but somewhere in there we sprinkled some truth if we can't see through those kinda things we are done. Why people decide to post bad or wrong information here I really don't have a clue, some people can be very petty and jealous and they don't like to be wrong about things, and they hate seeing someone other than themselves doing good, I'll never understand it but I've watched it play out my entire life.
There are a few on here that really got me pointed in the right direction with COB based Led technology, mostly Growmau5 the amount of free knowledge he has shared is huge.
I didn't know crap about lighting except that I was really burnt out (haha) on hps and mh technology. Building was easy if you have diy mindset it's just taking the time to understand how dangerous electricity is and taking the proper steps to build a safe unit.

i have the drivers mounted separately also but i can't take credit for the build i know the basics and could probably get one built but the time hassle and effort put me off especially working nearly 60 hour weeks with family etc
I went halfa with partner so cost wasn't to bad.

Your definitely right about the media whatever side you lean both feed fuel on the fire to divide and conquer.
