How much LED light can a plant handle?

everybody knocks me for it for some reason but I'm super impressed with lighttimetunnel cobs. for the price the amount of light from it is unreal, can't see my projector on

the heat from those though...
lights convert electrical energy to light and heat. a 315 watt cmh will produce more light and less heat than those cheap leds.2 450 watt viperspectra lights. they produce 55 watts of light and 345 watts of heat. a 315 watt cmh produces 100 watts of light and 235 watts of heat. young people love technology that they don't understand but to someone trained in electrical engineering technology is just a tool and it is important to chose the right tool for the job but to do that you need to educate yourself. that lightimetunnel cob you like uses 45mm epileds just like other cheap grow lights and are just as inefficient as any other led grow light on e-bay or amazon. if you want an efficient white LED for a reasonable price then look at the bridgelux eb or samsung 561 strip lights.these will give you 159 LPW at 700ma and do not need a heat sink if driven at 700ma or less.if you can't wire a simple series circuit and don't have $800-$1000 for a plug and play grow light then LEDs may not be the best choice for you

I have there 600 watt setup MH/HPS Light ,tent and inline fan ... I wonder if that would be better than what I have now?? Or what the difference is
growers up here that converted from 1000 watt HPS to 630 watt cmh claim they get the same yield and better quality with the 630 watt CMH as they did with 1000 watt hps. there are CMH thread on this site and videos on youtube. you should check them out

I will consider switching lights if I find a way that these cob's let me down. At this point I am just being silly and seeing how 1000w led compares to 1000w hps, when looking at ACTUAL wattage.

Hell yeah I might have to try them out that that link u had was for 315 so it should be close to the 600 watt HPS

I should point out, that the two sets of cobs in that tent are both on and running... both were sold from amazon as the exact same link. Clicked on order/ reorder within 2 weeks of each other... both are completely different chips, reflectors, and drivers. So 180$ for a crapshoot but so far they are both great.

i was checking every chance i got when i started years ago. now, i sometimes don't look for a 4-5 days.

when i add something new to the environment, i will check more frequently, but if things are working well, sometimes they get along fine without me.
I've been growing for 30+ years, been growing indoors for over 10. I still check my plants 3 or 4 times a day at least.

You all can knock or comment about the viparspectra lights all you want. I am not here for that! If those are like 200 watts usage each that would explain a few things! I am not knocking the light I wish it did more for the claimed wattage. You should see the quality that 200 watts put out then! Do not let the picture fool you. I have a 600 watt HPS going at 100%. I can really see the difference between HID and LED. To be honest, I think I like the MH/HPS HID setup. It may cost more money to operate but I have some colas on these ak47's that could probally knock the shit out of you they are so big and bulky!

I'm not knocking your viparspectras, they aren't the greatest lights. But they certainly aren't "glorified spaceheaters". I was just pointing out the actual wattage. They grow weed pretty well. I currently am in the midst of a test run with 6 plants. Two under a viparspectra 600 (260W), two under a Roleadro 600 (250W) and two under 260W hlg quantum. It will be at least 2 months before I have final results though, but so far all 3 of them are doing a fine job. The hlg quantum is well over twice as bright as the others though for the same wattage...

And you don't have to build your own quantum, if you want a prebuilt light just look here:

What's the temps like and are you still at 810w?

Lol Kerovan I said you can knock or comment all you want :). I agree with you totally. In my honest opinion one light per plant is ridiculous and is not a good metric. Granted it is putting out a pretty plant, but the height and the amount did not make the grade on this grow.

Actually that is what I was thinking about getting or I am going to use CMH. I am thinking about putting 2 of them with my 600 HID in the 8x4x8 tent.

As far as my viparspectra lights. they may end up being used for household plants.

Yes indeed, full time. I get up in the morning and check them, check them as soon as I get home from work. And then again at least one more time before lights out. Currently growing autos for the first time, so the light cycle is much longer which gives me even more opportunities to check them.:bigjoint:
Cool, my work schedule in the summer does not permit that much opportunity

I used to scrog years ago and if you waited 3 days, you would regret it
