How much diatomaceous earth should I add to soil?

I want to add some food-grade diatomaceous earth to my soil mix. I'm thinking of adding a cup per cubic foot of soil mix. Does that sound like too much/too little? Any recommendations for the amount to add? Thanks

I use about that much. Be careful and where a dust mask. It is bad to breathe it.

I have been using 1\2 cup per cubic foot of soil when I reammend. I guess it's good my plants have nice rigid stems that don't require much support.
