how much calcium nitrate in ro

Need help regarding how many ppm calcium nitrate and how many ppm mg in ro water as a Base
 
Shouldn't think there will be any in RO water thought that was the point to strip it of all the elements that you would get from tap water

Yeah I know lol I got calcium nitrate and Epsom salts but need to know how much of each in ppm I should add
 
I only use epson salts as I use tap water and add 1 teaspoon to 20 litres of water gives me about 0.2 ec on top of my tap water
 
I would probably add the same to your water first and see what the meter says or try half a teaspoon and up it you can always add more to your water if needed just a pain when it goes over and you have to start over again. I would try for 100 as well I know if your using cal/mag straight from the bottle there usually the same ratio

OK thanks would I need to add extra calcium due to the extra mg
 
You cant really go by EC or ppm because it`ll have a combination of Mg and S in the reading. If 5g of epsom equates to a teaspoon, dissolving it in 20L of RO will give you around 25ppm of Mg and 33ppm of S.

Does the label mention tetrahydrate? If not, its likely just a bottled greenhouse grade like calcinit which costs around £15 for 25kg.
To approximate a "full strength" (10ml per us gallon) dose of Calmag, use 0.415g of GG calcium nitrate per litre and 0.314g of epsom per litre. This wont give you any added Fe that calmag does and it will add S which calmag doesnt. but it will give you around the same N, Mg and Ca.
Be aware these two chemicals are not compatible in a concentrated solution so dont go mixing them together in a bottle or you`ll create a stodgy mess that wont dissolve in water ;)

Thanks very much so just over 4g cal nitrate to a litre and just over 3 gram epsom would give me close to calmag with extra sulfur and no added iron am I correct???

And add each salt separate to the same 1 litre??
 
Its 0.415g per litre (less than half a gram) so if you`ve got 10L of ro water, you`d add 4.15g of calcium nitrate and 3.14g of epsom. Dont forget those weights will give you the equivalent of full strength calmag (10ml/gal), where most will only use it at half strength (5ml/gal).
To get half strength use half of the weight, ie; calcium nitrate at 0.2075g per litre and epsom at 0.157g.
