How many USA vets here?

Just curious as to how many of us are here on RIU.

When I was in the Army, I was a brainwashed American idiot. I bought into all the "might equals right" bullshit. Looking back, I can't believe who I was.

Now I know everything has been done before. Nothing new. The chicken hawks are still running things and they don't mind asking you to sacrifice yourself, your children, or any of your loved ones - but the punks won't do it themselves.

I look back and am embarrassed by who I was - but I never regretted my service. I have a lot of good memories but if I could do it all over again, I probably wouldn't. Sure, the military can be a lucrative career if planned right, but in reality, you are still supporting an evil government that kills and oppresses your fellow man.

Just curious, how many of you guys are vets and feel the same? Feel differently? Don't know why I'm thinking about this right now. Guess I feel betrayed and duped buy an evil government and just needed to vent. Peace.

Not a vet because I learned what the game was about early on, but I have a similar opinion about the morality of American imperialism.

Hey at least you didn't get killed, and it probably taught you some important life lessons.

How many people did you have to slaughter to figure that out?

Pity you didn't listen to the voice saying "don't be a fool" instead of "America, Fuck Yeah!!"

As opposed to the leprechaun in your head telling you to have another drink while you molest one in four children around you?

Shut up, Australia.

Lol, Australia is less relevant on the world stage than Ireland is, I bet that hurts.

irish irrelevance at it's best... your under age family members are the only ones hurting - being irish you've probably got 16 kids so statistically you're diddling four of them...

irish people have no business talking military when invaders have a nice little home in the northern part of their island. also, the other day I saw you offering opinions on American prisons...another case of shut your fucking mouth because you haven't a clue....and oh yeah, top of the morning to you.

So because our Army doesn't attack random countries I get no say in the morality of applauding soldiers as heros just for returning from pointless wars?

If you fought in a proper war, my respects to you.

Killing people for oil and to further the military industrial complex is distinctly UN-HEROIC, if anything your soldiers have my pity for choosing to be pawns in a game that cares nothing for them.

the American government has shit on the American soldier, many a vet will admit that. but soldiers do what they are trained to do, right or wrong, they do it. it is in poor taste to ask "how many sand people did you put down"
