I am a heavy smoker and buying is very expensive so I decided to grow my own. How many plants should I keep growing so I can smoke a half ounce a week? Prob will smoke less but depends. I use to eat and sleep and for chronic stomach pain so I hurt badly when I am out. Please let me know. I will be growing auto flowering strains so I don't need to worry about light cycles. Also where do any of y'all get seeds? I am looking for more variety on the selection. Thanks for any help

Anyway that really does depend my friend, growing conditions affect a lot as well as strain. If you look at average yields per plant for some autoflowering strains you'll see you can grow anywhere from 28-200 grams per plant so a pretty big range there. Do you have any details on how you are going to have your grow setup?

Consider it takes 50-70 days for most strains to flower/finish
If you don't have both a Veg space, flowering space the time will be greatly increased between harvests.
Say its going to take 120 days to veg/and flower out the 1st time around.
Before you put your plants in flower, you should make cuttings, and root them, veg them, and have them ready for the next go around. That's way these is 50-70 days between harvests vs 120.
1/2 oz a week for 60 days is 1/4lb. Easily obtainable.
I would get a High Yielding Strain like a Mr Nice Critical Mass, Critical Kush, Super Silver Haze... Some phenos of SSH go 84 days, but other phenos can be found 60-70 days.

If you use a 1000 Watt Hortilux Super Bulb, 1-2 20 Gallon Container and 1 of the above strains grown Tree Style, if you cant get 1lb+ your doing something wrong. I always get at least 1 1/4 from the above strains per light... Often 2 lbs per 1000 Watt Hortilux, but as a Minimum, if you cant get an LB somethings wrong.
I also veg in a 5 Gallon Container x Promix BX, Sun Bulb Better Grow Orchid Fert. Both Veg/Bloom formulas, and 1000 Hortilux Super Bulb.
Also 1st time around, considering you will be Pheno Hunting, I would grow out a pack and get all the Females, and flower them in 5 Gallon Buckets as you need space for multiples.
Having taken cuts from each female before flowering, you can keep 1 of the Cuts that you decide to use as your Mother Plant for future cuts. You can pretty much get 9 x 5 gallon buckets with pretty nice vegged plants. If you get 3 oz per plant, that's 27 oz. I said 16 is minimum, but there is potential for much more.
A lot depends on Air Circulation/Ventilation/Temperature ect. Proper watering/feeding.
I got 65 oz from 2 Hortilux and RP Kosher Kush last month. Same for the SSH.
SSH is fast growing, and needs less veg as it stretches , and you can take advantage of the stretch if you know what youre doing.

The op is growing autoflowers. No need for separate rooms.
I suggest The Vault seeds. They advertise here. So does Midweek Song and Guerilla.

Look into mephisto genetics.
This is three plants in a 2x4. It is enough smoke for a while. Those are 15 inch pots that hold five gallons. You could use 3 gallon and get more plants in there. They are autoflowers.

This is a mephisto auto. Cola as big as my for arm and fist.
You will get 2-3 zips out of good autos. More with certain strains or good growing techniques.
I would say 8 plants planted about 10 days apart for constant rotation and supply.

I don't have anything special set up now. Just a 150w grow light. I will build an open frame and line with cardboard and foil. Other than that it'll be an organic grow cause my wife is freaked out about chems and nutes in the house.

depends on a lot of factors
what type of medium will you be using?
what type of lighting and light schedule?
nutes or no?
tap water or RO?
What size pots?
if you grow in 2 gallon-3 gallon pots on a light cycle with 16-20 hours and good soil/nutes you can expect 1-1.5 oz from a well grown begginer plant IME. so just do the math, takes roughly 100-110 days seed to harvest. hope that helps
