How many litres of water for a 10 litre pot?

Just wondering if there was a way I could be more accurate in my watering. Im afraid I may overwater my seedlings and in doing so I may be under watering. I was wondering if there was some thing like 2 litres of water to 10 litres of soil/pot... that sort of thing?

If its just seedlings, water 1 time per day with 1/3 liter. after a week just water 1 time real good and then let the soil dry out, might take 4 or 5 days to get dry, then water vigorously and let dry . lather. rinse. repeat. You do not want the soil to be moist all the time. It is VERY important that the soil get dried out. the roots must have oxygen to survive and mud does not hold oxygen.

So after I have done a week of 1/3 litre a day. Would you say go to a full litre and just water when dry? Thanks man, u have been a real big help.

If its a 10 liter pot it may take quite a bit more than 1 liter to get it saturated. The MJ plant likes to have its soil saturated with water then left to get nearly dry all the way towards the bottom, then saturate it again. this ensures proper oxygen/water ratios for the plants good health. Each plant will use different amounts of water each time, weigh the pots when saturated and again when really dry, that's how you will know when to water. Other than wilting plants weighing pots is the best method to determine water needs. Since each plant will vary its use of water there is no sure way to say use 5 liters every 5 days, it won't work, each one will use more or less. Too much water will kill a plant just as fast as no water, the trick is finding a balance.
