how many gallons...indoor soil grow

Im growing 10 plants under two 1000 watt hps lights. I hadn't originally planned on using this much light when I potted the plants into 3 gallon grow bags. Will that be enough soil to allow the plants top reach full potential? Or should I transplant into something bigger?

Any advice or input would be appreciated.
Thanks

It all depends on how big your plants are so keep in mind 1 gallon of soil for every foot of plant growth. 3 gal = 3 ft plant
But some strains like more root space than others so research what your growing and it's better to have more dirt than not enough or you will have to water more often and your yield will suffer. Your roots are very important to doing it right

A gallon a foot has been around a long time.
If you want to know if you could of done better on your grow. After it's all said and done and your cleaning out your pots
check and see if your tap root and other roots were root bound? If so you need more soil, bigger pot for next time! Simple
I use 6.2 gallon square pots.

Well, I am doing an experiment most of my ladies are in 7gl pots. I have one who is very large for her age. I just dropped her in a 15gl pot full of super soil. 6 weeks into revegging them. Time will tell. Under a 600 watt mh.

Would it be risky to transplant them at this point? There are between 1 and 3 weeks into flower.

3 gals, 5 gals if your trying to veg them for more than 4 weeks. more root mass does mean more yield though, they can process more food as well.
