how long until buds can be stored long term?

time is a constraint for my first grow. i need to be done EVERYTHING by mid december, and am trying to figure if i should flower now, or if i can wait a little.

im most likely flying to florida for a few weeks in mid december, so i need to be able to store my bud for that length of time w/o opening the jars. this means i want them to be dry enough so that they dont get mold etc.

how long does it take from cutting a plant, to harvesting, and then curing them in jars for long term storage? this will help me decide when to flower. Thanks!

if you cut it, just get a card box with strings inside and hang your buds and you can leave it in the box for 8 weeks without mould. keep the buds in the dark and leave in the box and everything will be ok.

really? why do people put them in glass jars then? i know its for long term storage, but why dont they just let it dry out for a while first?

I dried my bud for about two weeks on screens and cardboard and then stuffed them into mason jars. they have kept for three years now (yes, I had a good yield) and keep me in the groove. I keep them boxed in the dark in a closet, pretty dry now but get the job done

which is when they can get moldy in the beginning if not watched after carefully, correct?
That's tru, but there is a pretty good test to tell if your buds are ready to jar or not. If you can snap the stem in the middle of the bud and it snaps nicely without bending, then it's ready for the jar. It's a good idea to "burp" the jars once a day for the first week or 2, bu then it's good to go for long term storage.

just as a warning to you, i left my weed in a jar for a week without burping, and it got mold. burping is when you open up the jars for 10 - 30 mins to allow for air exchange.

i would recommend making sure your weed is dry on the outside. you might think the whole bud is dry, but if you leave it in the jars, after a few days, the moisture from deep inside is pulled out. so learn from my mistakes. i think as long as you keep burping them, you should be ok, but dont assume they are dry enough to be left alone for a few days. i had 2 phenotypes, and 1 got mold, and if i remember, it gave a more enjoyable high
:sigh: atleast i was able to still cook them in brownies.
