How long to veg for?

This is my first grow and it's going pretty well. I started this single plant a few days after the new year and unfortunately got a little root rot. I was a little severe in my fixing of the issue but essentially she was set back 2-3 weeks. Anyway, since then she's about 4 weeks now without issue, growing pretty steady, from clone. She's supposed to be an indica/sativa hybrid and I've kept her pretty short by LSTing the last couple weeks. What I'm noticing now is that all of the little side branches are shooting up to form a mostly uniform canopy.

The QUESTION OF THE TOPIC is how long should I continue to veg her for? Right now she's getting 17 hours of light/day, with 7 hours of dark. She's only under CFLs so I don't want her to get too big...right? Because of light penetration and stuff?

If I continue to tie her down and switch her lights to 12/12 in 10-20 days, will I have enough light to last through flower? Can I let her veg even longer and yield more?

Switch when she's one third to half of the maximum height allowed by your space.

You can read until you're blue in the face, with the only conclusion being to roll another one and think about it some more.
deadgro is right tho, statistically you want 1/3 of your maximum space. My experience has been half. All strain and training dependant. If you're stuck for space and have the time, have some fun with it and try some techniques aimed at making the most of YOUR space, Have fun!

No worries about the set back... just go as she grows... I usually flower around 3 feet (45-55 days under 400w HPS) you want to get as much bud as possible so I say flower her around 3 weeks from now. How many watts do you have pumping? You should Def consider switching up your lights. CFLs are cool and everything but HPS changed my life... some people will disagree with me but everyone is different. Good luck dude

Thanks for the tips! She's really growing super fast. Like all of the side shoots are growing higher than the main. I started tying some of them down just so i can keep the lights low. She's turning into a little bush over the reservoir. Think I'll go about 2-3 weeks longer and throw her to flower XD! If I can keep her about 1-2 feet tall in veg then I should have enough room in my little homemade tent which is 5 feet tall. And to answer your question I have 216 watts for this plant! I could have got a HPS with how much I spent on bulbs and the light fixture in hindsight. But this will work! First and only grow for a while. Oh, and I kind of didn't want to mess with any ducting. I don't know if that's required but my buddy's grow room had to have an exhaust duct and an A/C lol.

Oh and do all of the little side shoots turn into colas when its in flower? Because I have 12-15 of those I counted today and they're pretty much all pointing up towards the lights. Just worried I'm going to end up with an unmanageable forest.

Worth it for whatever yield I can get though

Yes, they turn into cola's, you can also chop them for clones, as Slinky said, have fun and enjoy your finished product...!
