flowering time really depends on the the strain some can finish in as lil as 45 days with some sativas flowering for more than two months. most say the last two weeks you want to give the plant pure water(the flush), and then give the plant a 24hr or longer dark period before the chop. the faq should help you out if you check uder there and i suggest getting a hid like a mh or hps perferbally the hps for flowering rather than just CFLs, just a personal opinion:blsmoke:

After 5 weeks you can probably flower anytime(or wait until the plant is roughly half your desired final height). All you have to do is switch the photo period to 12/12 and start bloom nutes a week or so later. Figure a minimum of 8 weeks to flower. Like the previous poster stated, Sativas take longer than Indicas. You'll know you're getting close to finishing when the colas fatten up and are covered with resin. Get yourself a good pocket scope(30-100x) and check the trichomes. They should start out mostly clear, what you want is a good balance of amber and cloudy trichs, at least that's what I prefer.
