How long to agitate trim in washing machine for buble hash?

I've seen all kinds of different times from different people.

I think Frenchy was saying on the video I watched that he did a quick 20 second wash to start with, then 3 minute washes. That seems pretty short.

I've read some tutorials that say let it go for the full 12 minute cycle and allow the water to settle for 10 minutes afterwards before filtering through the bags. This seems rather long.

The only bubble hash I've made so far I am very disappointed with. I pressed it into hash rosin and it's pretty gnarly stuff, tastes green and not as strong as I'd like. I was using very low quality trim and agitated for a 12+ minutes a run though. I suspect I just shredded the plant matter enough to make it through into my hash.

This is where you get to the be the scientist. I’m not sure you can agitate too much. I thought that was the point. Try different times and see what gets you the best results!!

You indeed can agitate too much. I had a buddy that wasted an lb of top shelf trim by overdoing it. Although, his ass was using a damn Bosch drill and a paint whip in 5 gal bags, lol. It was hella green.

The way I did it was fresh trim and immediate freeze. I don’t have a washer yet, so I hand stirred for 15 min. My bubbles came out almost white. I used the 25m screen to squeeze out the water, then pressed immediately so no oxidation occurred. The rosin smelled and tasted just like the live plant did. I pressed fast at about 180f, I feel like I lose less terps with a faster press. Good luck man.

It all depends on the quality you want... if you beat the shit out of it sure you will get a bunch more but there is a much great chance you break the resin heads and stalks (I've watched so much frenchie that I say this in my head with his accent hahahaha) personally I am going to do many quick washes until I start seeing a very large reduction in my output then maybe one final long wash once I have got all my top shelf stuff I want, just to make sure I have everything.

Why would that matter if you’re running through bags that will filter it?

Try to aim for 2-3 15 min washes and do an extra long one at the end for 45 mins or so. You’ll get some nice pulls toward the end.

I noticed the agitation issue is a problem when you have too little material to work with. The green isn’t much of an issue though as it will usually dissipate during the drying process.

Yeah that was my hope after my initial pull, but it stayed green all the way through to being pressed rosin. I'll probably just make edibles out of it or toss it into capsules and eat it all, lol. It still has plenty of medicine in it.

So you're doing much longer washes than Frenchie recommends, interesting.

I'm starting to believe my starting material being so poor was the main issue. I have a couple bags of higher quality trim and larf ready to go for probably tonight.

IDK the science behind it, but the water was green and the hash had a slight green haze to it, and it tasted like chlorophyll. We started hand stirring, and the water was golden, and the hash tasted like fire. I was absolutely shocked.

Usually green is related to the material as I’ve had some green runs and it could’ve just needed more freezer time as I notice the green effect with fresh frozen primarily.

I ran a mix of fresh frozen and dried last night and I didn’t get any greens this go.

That’s nuts, I’ve had the exact opposite experience. If I use trim that’s too dry, I get the greens. It’s a trip how different people get different results with a similar process.

Yeah, that's what keeps blowing my mind the more I look into it. I'm inclined to go with the Frenchy method just because that's a dude who knows his hash, but people seem to be getting great results with all sorts of methodology.

Obviously the only thing to be done is make a bunch of hash and develop my own techniques. Oh the humanity! However will I survive this torture?
