How long till plants sprout from soil?

I planted my seeds on 1/29/09 and I know they dont just spring up the next morning but I was just wondering on average how long it took plants to be visable.

ive had them come up in three days but ive had some i took for a loss and planted another and the first seed sprouted after i had a small seedling started already keep the soil warm 80f is good keep the soil moist no nutes for 2-3 weeks the seed already has enogh fod for it till then:!:
 
... Three days is a good average. Soil temp should be noted at this time though. Depending on ur setup, the moist soil can become less than desireable for the young roots. I just had a seedling a couple months back, temps were too cold and a root tried growing up out of the soil, took forever finally get her growing again.
 
After taking some measurements i noticed that my flo's were 10 inchs from the cups so i lowered the lighting to be 6 inchs from the cups since today is day 7....im going to check on them today after I get out of work.

Well its just wat i thought from the beginning.. i was NOT watering them near enuff and they were also just a lil to deep down to even get ANY water wat so ever.. I went to digging when I got home and found them completely dried up!! Started over with 4 more this time hehe any watering tips lol?
 
Are you putting the seeds directly into the soil b4 germinating them first?
For me after I germ, they break soil a 1-3 days after. Good luck with the next 4!
 
I always germ em with the ole wet paper-towell-in-a-bag method, plant em as soon as they sprout a taproot, 1/4-1/2in deep. Try misting the soil to water them, just enough to dampen the soil up.

Yea.. The problem was that I planted the seed to far down to began with. Then I did not water it enuff so no water (I dont think) Ever reached the seed. I think that because there was only about 1-2cm of growth on the root since it was germ'ed and it was completely dried up to the point that if you touched the root it just broke off.

I was able to save the other batch (I hope) I planted on around 2/4/09. I did the same thing for them but I scraped off soil from the tops of the other batch and made sure they were not dried up and they were not so I covered them up with the right amount of soil 1/4-1/2 inch and give them a good watering.
 
i planted a germinated seed this morning at little after midnight and its 11:47 now i just looked at it and its about an inch tall this about blew my mind that's the fastest Ive ever seen 1 grow:clap:

wow man, so basically, it grew an inch in 12 hours and 40-some-odd minutes? .... or wait... was it 24?... either way Congrats!
