How Long Or Ever?

How long do u think it will take till cannabis legalized in America, any state or will it ever happen?

Here's my pool numbers if we're bettin'

I give it 10 years for the first contigous 48 - state to De-criminalize.

<don't really count Alaska or Hawaii - they just do things differently there . Last I heard, it pretty much became a right to privacy issue in Alaska.>

Another 10 before it becomes actually legal anywhere - in that you might see coffeshops of pharmacies have it. Along with taxation etc....

25 after that before it goes Federal.

Just my speculations....

How cool will it be to be walking down the street, blowing on a j with no fear of being arrested..... I hope this happens soon!!!

What I don't understand is more than half the country smokes or smoked pot or doesn't have a problem with it and it is still not legalized but yet every year thousands die in car crashes due to alchohol and to my knowledge, I don't remember one event where someone crashed due to smoking pot nor do you see people getting violent because they had a little too much to smoke.

no bill to tax the sale of pot will ever last long before it's over turned by the supreme court. i mean places like that might pay generic taxes but no specific tax on pot like we have for alcohol and tobacco. i think it's gonna take more than 10 years however i do agree that it's gonna to take more than half of the states to have decriminalization laws before it ever has a chance on the federal level. with the exception of course if ron paul makes president.

Within the next presidential term, there will be a lot of laws changed regarding drugs.

latest results from highschools here.....I think it was 30% alcohol, 12% cigarettes, and 67% mj.....and 5% other drugs....lots of people said...that the other drugs were actually more... but anywho....I get the sense that lots of people even do that on the street now....not that I would but...seems to be pretty common place....walking around,,, and smelling the dank weed wherever I go....amazing!

I really dont care how much tax they put on it, even if it was illegal to grow and you could only buy it from stores(i would still grow teehee). As long as i could smoke. I would walk into Circle K and ask for a pack of Marijuanabro 100 blueberry. Tap the pack open it, throw one in my mouth, light it and OMW!!! It will happen some day we waste up to $6billion dollars a year in policing marijuana alone, i can see the other drugs...... BUT MARIJUANA?!?!?!

I think after the next presidential election laws will begin to change. With people like Ron Paul running for office (Ron Paul on Drugs) who openly support such things as legalization of hemp and medical marijuana and Sen. Obama who admits to having smoked and supports medical marijuana, the issue is beginning to surface. The presidental candidates have realized the large demographic of pot smokers in the US and they are trying to connect to that group and win their vote. Now even if a presidential candidate who supports medical marijuana does get elected, I don't think there will be a federal law about medical marijuana for up to ten years. But here's my predictions-- Slowly state laws will begin to change and some will allow medical marijuana and some will just make the laws less strict. As more and more states change their laws, the US gov. will have to confront the issue and take a federal stance on it. First, (lets say in 4- 8 years, a federal marijuana law is passed. Then more and more people will begin to smoke as even the government has said it can help people. The issue will be brought up again but this time for non-medical marijuana users. Now state laws will become even less strict against marijuana. And in 15-20 years I think it will be legal in the US to posses small amounts of marijuana. But I don't think the US will ever legalize it to the extent it is in Amsterdam or something. So I don't think there will ever be cafes selling weed. But I do think there will be companies making "medical marijuana". I think malboro even has factories already set up for processing marijuana once it becomes legal? wo long post!

Dont get me wronge , i would love to be able to smoke a fatty with out fear of the police. But honestly, as long as terminally ill people or those with medical conditions are able to get what they need / want to aide them threw their suffering i would be happy still growing in my closet and smoken in private.

true that, some people think having a prescription for medical is just an excuse to get stoned, but those people who are very ill found that marijuana is the only medication they can cope with...

i'd like to see all those asshats working for the gov. get some kind of fatal illness for a week, and only be able to smoke marijuana as a medication, and see what they have to say about it.
