How long can you keep a plant in veg?

that all depends on how big you want it to get, and how large your pot (medium) is. If you flip to a 12/12 too soon you'll wind up with a small plant. Wait until it has sprouted 13-15 branches and it will get way tall and could grow larger than your space allows (species will also play a part in growth). Keep in mind your plant will come close to doubling in size when you start to flower. I usually flower after 7-8 branches have appeared. Cheers!
