How Late into the flowering cycle can a female go hermie???

Yeah so, any ideas? I have 3 plants that are about six weeks into flowering, big nice juicy buds all over and dumbass me left the flowering room door open about a foot last night(having a little heat issue). There was no actual direct light on any of the plants nor was there any reflecting on them, but a light in the basement was on and some of the light got into the room indirectly. SO.... You think a night would stress em out bad enough to make them hermie if there was no direct light and it never got completely pitch black to begin with? I was think it would be kind of like the full moon effect kinda deal (seeing as it was a 16w cfl about 20 feet way from the side of the door.) But I got a hermie last time so I'm a little paranoid... the weed doesn't help :)
If anybody has had hermies from one slip up like this please let me know. I'll order some Dutch Master Reverse to spray on those girls. No more chicks with dicks in my house. Thanks for reading... Peace bongsmilie

a hermie is a hermie and its within the genetics of the seed(you cant change that).
just like a male is male and a fem is fem.

Natural Hermaphrodites
Some hermaphrodites seem to be genetically determined (protogenous). That is, they naturally form flowers of both sexes given normal growing conditions. Possibly genes carried on the autosomes (the chromosomes other than the sex chromosomes) modify the normal sexual expression. Monoecious varieties have been developed by hemp breeders in order to ensure uniform harvests.
It is also possible that these particular are polyploid, which means they have more than the usual two sets of chromosomes. This kind of hermaphrodite may have XXY (triploid), or XXYY or XXXY (tetraploid) sex chromosomes. However, no naturally occurring polyploids have ever been verified (by observation of the chromosomes) in any population of Cannabis. Polyploids have been induced in Cannabis by using mutagens, such as the alkaloid colchicine.
Whatever then genetic explanation may be, one or more of these natural hermaphrodites may randomly appear in any garden. They are sometimes faster-maturing, have larger leaves, and are larger in overall size than their unisexual siblings. They usually form flowers of both sexes uniformly in time and distribution, and in some unusual patterns. For example, from Mexican seed, we have seen a plant on which separate flowering cluster consisted of both female and male flowers: and upper section of female flowers had upraised stigmas, and a lower section of male flowers dangled beneath the female flowers. In other plants from Mexican seed, the growing tips throughout the plant have female flowers; male flowers sprout from the leaf axils along the main stem and branches. Plants from "Thai" seed sometimes form male and female flowers on separate branches. Branches with female flowers tend to predominate, but branches having mostly male flowers are located throughout the plant.

this is not true. while herm genetics can and are passed through seed from herm plants before them. any healthy female plant has the ability to turn herm (some easier than others) due to stress.:joint:

the first line of my quote is correct and yes you are right plants can turn hermie if mistreated/stressed or pollinated by males or if the genetics of the seed came from hermies originally.

True, Two of the plants are from another plant that did turn hermie towards the beginning, but I had a light leak, fixed the light leak and I haven't seen any sign whatsoever in any of the plants this time around. I'm just nervous that my little bonehead move might of stressed her out.

no point stressing mate whats done is done you can only hope for the best.
good luck.

I just finished my first grow and I opened up the closet door a bunch of times when the lights were out and the veg area next to the flower side had light coming out through spaces in the partition and they all were perfect with no hermies. I guess maybe since they were not used to the complete darkness that a little light now and then didn't hurt them. My thinking is that if they are comepletly blacked out all the time that when they do get a slight amount of light they arent used to then they'll stress.

makes sense... I know genetics have a lot to do with it. Some are more like to turn, and other less likely or nearly impossible. I'm just worried because some did last time and some didn't. Same strain.
