how important is it to scrape the bottom half of a cutting before trying to root them

I forgot to scrape the stem. I took the plant snipped a cutting off then cut leaf in half, took final cut at 45 degree angle, dipped in clonex and straight into root riot plugs. i buried 2 nodes i didnt split the stem or scrape it... im still good to go arnt i??????

They are under a heated propagator with a timer set at 2 hour on 1 hour off. Misting about 4 times a day. 2nd day 1 looks wilted the rest look good. under a daylight flouresent aquarium light

I don't scape or split the stem when I take a clone, just make sure I bury at least one node and cut the stem at 45 degree angle.
You shouldn't have any problem, mine root within 7-10 days usually. I use rapid rooters.

Your clones should root just fine, I take cuttings using the same method.

I put the cuttings under fluorescent light that is on 24 hours a day, and they are rooted in 7-10 days. I don't know why you are cycling the lamp off and on, just leave it on.

I ment im cycling the heated propagator :-)

Day 8 i got my mini roots and some white stubs in others.. this is the 1st time cloning has worked for me! Im happy as larry.. alls i can say is being sterile is defo needed. Plus a new scalpel

I find that scraping some girth off of opposing sides(not too much) really helps. Roots seem to explode more this way. You don't have to, but i been doing it this way for a very long time. Some people bury a node. But, i don't take cuts that big/tall. Try it next time. Do half with/half without. You be the judge.
