How hot can glass get?

hey guys got a question to rap ya brains,i got a little 2 by 4half room,its hard keepin the temps down,wat ya rkn i wanna put sum glass betwwen the light and my girls,now i got a exhaust fan on top so ya rkn the glass would with stand the heat from a 400 hps? or ya rkn it would get to hot and break? tryin to stay away from the Big cost of temperd glass,it just a idea,bloody work brilliant if the glass can handle the heat i rkn ,cheers guys

i think u should make a little space between the two and try it!

Needs to be tempered glass. If it regular glass temps in the 150 range will shatter it or even easier if moisture or mist from sprays or watering touch it. It will be like a shrapnel spray of glass.

the 400hps heat up a fair bit ay aww i dunno,pretty risky

5mm but if it doesnt work get a 4mm too.

If you get glass just ask if its tempered lot of homedepots sell it and I know most hydro shops have the right glass.you might be able to add 1/4 plexiglass under the glass as protection

sorry man had to go back to work lol, what ya mean the cup? and if 5mm breaks 4mm def will,its not temperd the glass shop rekons wil cost shitloads for a bit of temp glass,and at this stage its for a fish tank lol,tryin to be stealth these days is tricky,they ask so many fukin questions,

i was just thinking 'bout upgrading my reflector with glass and a hose sucking the heat from the bulb.there is no more thin foil .....newb mistake but removed same day that i've put it.. . also the fan is just under the light now as the second pic shows. i didn't make the upgrade. i was thinking of it actually last night man.i will do it when i chop my plant.it'll be the first upgrade for my 2-nd grow.

oh ok wiked as,well was talkin to a mate at work about how hot glass can get before it breaks,he reckons if its heated evenly it will be right,but if its in one spot (i.e mine will be) it will shatter cause it will try to expand or sum shit, but couldnt work out what temp it would handle,and yer would suck if it did shatter cause my girl is that sticky,the midgies cant get off it lol,fuk smoken glass ......im still gona try it lol....... i rkn if ya put a half decent fan on there it may be ight

well i got sum glass,just put it in now,bloody hell she gets hot ay,and only in one spot to,but i end up gettin like glass thats stuck together with like sum film in between it,i think it may be temperd,so doin a test now,let ya know how it goes
