how far should a 400 hps be from babys

so my baby autos r breaking ground today and I need to get my 400 watt light on to give them life. how far should it be from these babies?

One foot, with proper cooling. The plants can actually handle 10" but you want the two inches for growth room.

for tiny seedlings put it at 2ft get it closer gradually. if its aircooled it can be put pretty close like 8" away for grown plants

about a metre + . that light very strong for tiny seedlings. as they grow ,bring the light closer.

I got it at 3 feet right now which is pretty close to a meter.

has anyone only used a 400 watt hps for seedlings and know the perfect hieght?

Id stick with a meter for now bro, let them for some true leaves, then think about bringing it down. By the 3rd node you will see if it looks like its stretching, then you havent brought it down enough, however it'll make F all diffrence.

Theres no perfect hight, its all dependant on your humidity and medium.

I have a 400hps on to ten gallon dwc s . Have the light about a foot away, with a fan blowing on the light.
