how far away should my light be??

i am trying to grow my first plant in a small hydro system i made using a plastic coffee tin, some plastic tubing ,air stone,pump, hydroton,and a rockwoll cube. i have a 65 watt gro light from crappy tire.. how far away can it be from my plant?

how hot does it get?

not very hott at all. like 25% warmer than a 60 watt kitchen light maybe.

is it a cfl??? like a twisty 1?

no it looks like a flood light.its got a blue film over it. they say they are for plant grow but they are just cheap like 7$. i dunno how close it should be to it

no clue... ide jus go buy sum cfls... they r proven to workand jus as cheep

get the bigest 1's they got and it can be like an 1 inch away... there is alota good threads on cfls in the indoor forum "sub fourm-cfl growing" ull get better answers from there then me

Lights should be as close as possible.

If its too warm for your hand, its too warm for the plant.

ok so the lights i have are 3 cfls 60 watt each ( 100 watt replacement)
the top light has 1600 lumens the other side to are 600 lumens


all lights are sitting about 1.5 /2 inches away from the plant i have tin foil around everything and a fan keeping it cool

give me some suggestions guys my plant is about a week old thanks =D
